RE: scary verse
Deerhunter; This is a good example of men rewritting the scripture to make it "easy to read and understand". Compare your version of the bible to the old standby, the King James Version.
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads many who go in it." "Because narrow is the gate difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." -Matthew 7:13,14
KJV
Matt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Verse 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The KJV doesn't say anything about the way being difficult. Jesus said his yoke is easy, and his burden is light. The KJV says that the way of the transgressor is hard. Jesus said, "takemy yoke upon you, and ye shall find rest unto your souls"
It's true that the multitudes are going in at the wide and broad way of easy believeism, and few are taking time to search out and find the narrow pathwath that Jesus has set before us, but the way isn't hard. The bible says, great peace have they that love thy law. Again, in his presense is fullness of joy, and at his right hand are pleasures forever more. Again, I will keep them in perfect peace who mind is stayed upon the Lord. The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in The Holy Ghost.
The strait and narrow way is the good way!! The broad way is the hard way!
