Coincidence:
Why is it that when something that we want to happen, actually happens, when everything falls into place the way we hoped it would, we are amazed at the hand of God at work in our circumstances. Our testimony: "œCoincidence? No way! It"™s God"™s perfect will!"
Yet, when something happens that we don"™t want to happen, or something happens that we don"™t want to accept as God"™s will, we deny that it could just as easily be God"™s hand at work"”His will being worked out in our lives and in the lives of those we love. We are so convinced of our own infallibility and omniscience that we refuse to acknowledge that it was not circumstantial in this case either. What happened was not the outcome of unfortunate circumstance or uncontrollable coincidences that caught God off guard. Just because we don"™t like it, we too often become the enemy of God"™s plan, an undermining force against His will. We want to control God, to manipulate Him to do our bidding. And, sadly, because He"™s not here to manipulate and control, we arrogantly try to control others and our circumstances to fit our view of God"™s will. We know what"™s best; He certainly doesn"™t. And I wonder why I"™m so miserable"”and why everybody else I claim to love is miserable when they"™re around me.
God is either in control or He isn"™t. And we all know that He is"”whether we like what He"™s doing or not. When I try to play God instead of trust God, it"™s a very poor bit of drama.
