Dear friends and parents,
Beware the music is much worse than it was in our day . And in our day I listened to the worse. We have a pool hall close by and on Sat. afternoon ther eis nearly no one in there so I shoot about 10 games with my eldest. The other night he want ed to shoot some about 6:00 PM. The music was loud. No big deal but as I began to hear the rap song I could not beliee my ears. The rap singer was saying he was the Great I am etc. I felt compelled to leave in which we did. My spirit could not stand it. We went back at an earlier time yesterday. Another rap song saying he was the Son of God. We left and won't be back except for AM hours when no music is aloud.Lately the music isn't so much sexual but flat out blasphemy.
We homeschooled our son Andy but through the youth group he began collecting various types of music. In time ..he backslid. Our last son in the house is not aloud to bring any worldly music in the house. I know parenting is the biggest incredient here in raising your children but this is just a warning that alot of the music is flat out demonic. My son didn't even pick up on the words until I said LISTEN ...and the message gets right into their sub conscience as a seed.

Chuck..it's NOT tyhe music..it's the lyrics. the distinction MUST be made, 'cuz music takes a bad rap all the time. as a musician, it's appalling to see what some "artists" call music... it's not music, it's trash mouth put to a tempo/beat with a chord or two thrown in.... that ain't music. Music is the latest battleground for "freedom of speech" lobbyists...and it's the MUSIC who'll suffer the most.....
..just like you cant blame firearms for killing people. They don't. People kill people.
music is a tool that was created for God's exaltation, but can/is being used for teh Worlds' exaltation.....
I agree with Rem, music is an art that most people don't appreciate, you know you play the guitar. As a retired touring musican I have two sons that are incredible guitarist that I know can outshine any player in the field today, however as many of you know, in music it's not now what you know, it's who you know. The trash coming out today is not fit to wash out a bird cage. I inculde country, rock, pop and especially Crap,,, OOOPs I man Rap. That is pure trash, but it is satisfying the need of a depraved community. Basiclly it's asupply and demand issue. If people didn't demand it, then the supply would be cut.Producers aren't going to spend money putting out product that doesn't sell.

Folks I couldn't agree with ya even more. Don't forget I play as well. I probably play close to one hour a day.Since TV has taken a rest in our home I've taken the guitar out and am working on my scales.I am talking about the lyrics. The beat doesn't do nothing to me. The blasphemous lyrics do. The seductive lyrics do also . I haven't shot pool in years and just wanted to do something with my oldest son Matt. The music is so bad if it continues I'll probably not go back.
Chuck
I agree Chuck. Lyrics in every genre of music have gotten more and more...uh...ungodly.
Not just rap, but country, pop, and rock also.
Some of the lyrics are downright immoral.
But, there are still some good lyrics out there. Here's lyrics from one of my favorite rock bands.
"Stand And Feel Your Worth"
Wake, stand and feel your worth, O my soul.
Kneel and know the word that can save us all.
We are fuel and fire both.
We are water.
Wed with wine and ghost.
We are wrought with breath and dirt, washed in second sight.
Woven through the earth, wreathed in rings of light.
Stand and feel your worth, O my soul.
Kneel and know the word, come to die.
We will wield a second birth, whet our wits and knives.
Wrap our knees in earth, wrap ourselves in light.
Wake, we will weigh and drink this cup.
We will burn, but we will not burn up.
Wake, feel your worth, O my soul.
Speak the word, the word that can save us all.
Awed by grace, I fall on my face.
And scream the word that can save us all.

chuck for the most part i agree, but its not just in music, we stopped at mcdonalds the other day when a off-the-clock employee came in and was using very vulgar laungage, i had my 11 year old grandson with me and i ask the guy if he minded not using such abussive laungage around the rest of the customers, he never said yea or nea, but he did go outside, it made me wonder what kind of morals we are teaching our younger people, i know my parents always taught me better, as far as the music, i don't listen to a lot of public music, mainly talk radio for me, but the other day my wife was flipping thru the stations and this song came on and i thought it was pretty catchy and easy to listen too, it was kind of refreshing in a world where you can find so much wrong to find something right
Save me from this prison
Lord, help me get away
'Cause only you can save me now
From this misery
Well I've been lost in my own place
And I'm getting' weary
How far is heaven?
And I know that I need to change
My ways of living
How far is heaven?
Lord, can you tell me?
I've been locked up way too long
In this crazy world
How far is heaven?
I just keep on prayin', Lord
I just keep on livin'
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
How far is heaven?
(I just gotta know how far it is)
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
'Cause I know there's a better place
In this place I'm livin'
How far is heaven?
So I just got to show some faith
And just keep on givin'
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord can you tell me)
How far is heaven?
(I just gotta know how far it is)
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
How far is heaven?
I just gotta know how far
I just wanna know how far

John 3:16
things are more like right now than they've ever been
It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.
William James
The Bible says, that out of the abundance the heart the mouth speaks. I believe with all my heart that out of the abundance of the heart the ear listens. When I got saved, my desires for music changed. The old music I used to listen to now seemed so wrong. I guess you could say, I had a new song in my heart. I know there are many of you too that wake up with a song in your heart each morning.. All last week mine was, "How Great Thou Art".
The lyrics are the issue with songs, not the music. Songs are just like churches and many other things in life, there are good ones and bad ones, it is up to each of us to decide which we listen to. Here is the lyrics to a CW song that I love.
Quote:
Artist/Band: Turner Josh
Lyrics for Song: Long Black Train
Lyrics for Album: Long Black Train
There's a long black train
Coming down the line
Feeding off the souls that are lost and crying
Tails of sin only evil remains
Watch out brother for that long Black Train
Look to the heavens
You can look to the skies
You can find redemption
Staring back into your eyes
There is protection and there is
Peace the same burn in your ticket for that
Long Black Train
cause theres victory in the lord i say
Victory in the lord
Cling to the father and his holy name
And dont go riding on that long Black Train
Theres a engine there on that Long Black Train
Making you wonder if your ride is worth the pain
Hes just a waitin on your heart to say
Let me ride on that long black train
But u know theres victory in the lord i say
Victory in the lord
Cling to the father and his holy name
And dont go riding on that long Black Train
Well i can hear the whistle from a mile away
It sounds so good
But i must stay away
That train is a beauty making everybody stare
But its only destination is the middle of nowhere
But u know theres victory in the lord i say
Victory in the lord
Cling to the father and his holy name
And dont go riding on that long Black Train
I said cling to the father and his holy name
And dont go ridin on that black train
Yes watch out brother for that long black train
The devils a ridin that long black train.
