Default Shine On!

1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: Daniel 1:1-6 KJV.

A familiar story in the bible about the three Hebrew children better known as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who were thrown into the fiery furnace because they would not worship an idol..I am sure you have unsaved friends who try to get you to fit in with their lifestyle..If you don't party with them or don't laugh at their dirty jokes, they laugh at you and call you a bible thumper or a religious fanactic..but you know the saddest thing is when some Christians alienate themselves from other Christians because they don't believe the way they do..it dosen't matter what they call us, Baptist, Methodist or what ever, it's how we live our lives before each other and before God..I am first and foremost a born again blood bought sinner that calls himself a Bptist..the important thing is to let our light so shine before others that they can see that we are different than the world..Amen..

Have a great day and tell someone about Jesus..

I am very similar there Motor-I happen to attend a Baptist church, but not because I am a Baptist. I grew up Presbyterian,and have been a part of several nondenomination churches, and was a member--in good standing, I may add--at a Foursquare Church in Savannah prior to relocating to the Atlanta area. I don't wear a badge of any one particular denomination. I believe in the whole body of Christ, wherever they reside--there may evenbe a few in the Catholic Church!I'm just kidding of course. The church I am at now is a great body of believers, and one that is growing and influencing our community--it was pefect,but then I joined--but, they are recovering nicely!

Great post.

And yall don't ever forget...when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in that fiery furnace...they weren't alone. There is always a 4th member in the fire with us.

Lord Jesus Christ.

Good post motor, I have always felt that our light shines the brightest when we are amoung non-beleivers living the life of Christ, we stand apart from them in a positive way and by not participating in thier worldly activities we show them our light.
