I got this in an email from the American Family Association......Please pass it on!!!!
On January 6, NBC will begin a new series entitled The Book of Daniel.
While the public has not seen the program, NBC is promoting "The Book of Daniel" as a serious drama about Christian people and the Christian faith. The main character is Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest whose wife depends heavily on her mid-day martinis.
Webster regularly sees and talks with a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus. The Webster family is rounded out by a 23-year-old homosexual Republican son, a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer, and a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter. At the office, his lesbian secretary is sleeping with his sister-in-law.
NBC and the mainstream media call it "edgy," "challenging" and "courageous." The series is written by Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.
NBC considers The Book of Daniel a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians.
Please take action now! Here is what you can do:
1. Call your local NBC affiliate and ask them not to air the program. You can find their contact information in your local phone book.
2. Print out a copy of AFA's pass along sheet, fill in the affiliate call letters and phone number, make copies and pass out at your church. Ask your pastor to announcement it and put information in the bulletin and newsletter.
3. If you haven't already done so, send an email to NBC.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! Please help get the word out by forwarding this to your family and friends. They probably aren't aware of it!

Yea, Let's ban it and then maybe we can have a nice book burning.
As NBC itself explains the show, it focuses on "an Episcopalian minister and father. He finds himself conversing with Jesus -- his mentor and friend -- who helps navigate family problems, church politics and even his nagging reliance on prescription painkillers."
another article.
In Kenny's "The Book of Daniel," which NBC just picked up for midseason, Aidan Quinn plays Connecticut-bred Daniel Webster. Daniel is a good minister and a good man, but that's not always enough to deal with his life. He's addicted to Vicodin. His wife, Judith, has frozen inside since one of their sons died of leukemia. His son, Peter, is gay. His daughter, Grace, is dealing marijuana to raise extra cash. And in moments of great stress, Jesus (played by "Deadwood" alum Garret Dillahunt) turns up--in the passenger seat of Daniel's station wagon, in the bedroom hallway, outside the church--to offer his counsel. So, yeah, "Book of Daniel" is going to be controversial, and that's even before you consider that Kenny is gay, and that homosexuality and religion have mixed lately like hair spray and a blow torch.
"I recognize there are going to be people who have an issue with a gay man writing about Jesus," Kenny says at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour. He adds, "I'm not making fun of Jesus. I never want to poke fun at religion or at Jesus. These characters are very spiritual people. They believe in God, they believe in Christ as their savior, and I think that's wonderful."
While his characters are devout, Kenny's own feelings toward Christ and organized religion are more complicated. He is, as he puts it, "in Catholic recovery," is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation, and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus.
"I'm a spiritual person," he says. "I don't know specifically what's going on up there. I think there must be something going on, whether it's an energy we're all connected to or an old white man with a beard and a robe.
"I do believe in Jesus. I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him is true, but I read his teachings, and I think he was a great teacher and a wonderful philosopher. I think he had a great idea: `Love thy neighbor.' There's nothing wrong with that."
Instead of trying to get something thrown off TV before it has been aired and taking someone else's opinion why it's bad,why not take a look and watch it for a few minutes. Then if you feel it's bad write a letter.
In my life experiences people have had to deal with addiction, loss of a child, homosexuality etc.

You know guys, I am glad that Charlie posts on here. His post used to repulse me but now I see the genius of it. I pray that Charlie sees the error of his ways one day, but lately I think his posts show us what we are really up against and how seriously we need to push forward in our ministries.
I was nice with my reply but you self @&@&@&@&@&@&@&@&@& amp;@&@&
I do beleave in God and no wonder the country is in the shape it is in with people like you and I am FINISHED with YOU and this thread.
Bigcountry,I bet you really got upset when I said you folks should put up a fight if you really felt you couldn't say Merry Christmas.
You two are totally right you should get upset because this minister is dealing with things that happen in everyday life.Get the show banned before it ever hits the airway.
Brett Farve and Rush Limbaugh are pain killer addicts. As are many people in today's society.
Many people have a problem dealing with the loss of a child.
Some people have kids that are homosexuals even if they are God fearing or a minister.
I actually know a minister daughter who got pregnent and high and sold some to ger friends.
I tell you what I'm going to watch this show and if I feel it shows this minister in a bad light I'll write a letter to NBC myself.
What I'm not willing to do is condem a show or a person on someome elsses sat so.
Renfro, real nice reply.

Charlie with that being said, all I can say is God help us all if more people beleave like you do.

What your up against "free thought" I know that your new found believes helped you stop destroying yourself and I think that's great. That doesn't mean you have to take every alert from some org that hasn't even seen that show as gospel.

I was right there with ya 2 years ago or less. But what's free thinking about it? Your right people are sheep generally. You may think its free thinking, but bascially instead of following a Bible, these supposal "free thinkers" just follow some guy from hollywood.
I am the poster child for not like authority. But if I have to follow someone, I think I made the better choice. Howmany families do you know that are ran by the TV. The TV makes up thier minds. They base thier opinions off thier favoriteathlete or some guy who is now a star but was once bussing tables like Tom Cruise. The population generally gets this warped sense of how life is outside thier doors from stupid shows like this and many more.
Keep postin Charlie, us Christians need to hear your view.
