Default The Shepherds
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2:8-20 KJV.

When you read Scripture and I especially love the story of His birth and how the world finds out about His coming. It could have been attended by kings and men of great importance, but it was shepherds. When you think of shepherds, please remember that these men are what was considered the common men of society. God will use anyone for his cause regardless of who or what we are. so don't give up and say i'm not good enuff ..They lived wit the animals and it was at best a rough life. Remember the stories of David and how he killed bears and lions in protecting his father"™s sheep. But God"™s sense for decorum or for turning things upon it"™s ear is understated in this situation. Shepherds are the first o see the Saviour of the world and to then be the first to let the world know of His birth. Also think of the heavenly choir of angels. This would have to bring shivers up and down their spine.

May each of you have a most blessed holiday and may His love fill you and may He be honored by the way we show His love to others. I thank you for allowing me to be a small part of His work.

have a verry MERRY CHRISTMAS and tell someone about Jesus..

Excellent post bro. Wayne. I thought about those verses day before yesterday. How the shepherds were protecting the sheep, much like Jesus protects us. I imagined the night clear and crisp and how the glory of the Lord shone about them. Must have been just awesome... What an awesome God we serve!

Excellent post motor, very appropiate for the season and Rev like you I too have wondered the awe the shepherds felt at that time, the glory, and the joy!!! God is great and his gift to us lowly folk of his one and only begotten Son is the greatest example of Gods love for us all.

Thank you Brother Wayne.

Pss.23
[1] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
[5] Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
[6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
