Things certainly have changed alot .You are so right. There does appear to be more temptations available fo rour youth. Churches have to be very creative to get the youth to attend in most churches. I do feel in these last days God will do some awesome things to get people's attention. I mean the church attendance rose quite abit shortly after 9/11. Not to say God did that but He certainly did not stop that event. There was also alot of neat things in LA withthe church shortly after Katrina. And I believe God is going to do some awesome thngs inside the local church as well. The young people these days are tired of the lust that never fulfills and are looking for answers.

Deerhunter... I think you'll find our generation is fulfilling prophecy. Each "side" veering towards the extremes. Chuck I agree with you in alot of what you just said. I look forward to the day when the church doesn't have to be creative anymore but God himself draws the youth to his house. (And if we think he is unable/unwilling or that's "just not his style" we could use another bible study or two) I too am tired of the lust that never fulfills...something I think our generation is just now beginning to realize/recover from that "sexual revolution" if that's what you want call it. (and I say that as a proud 20yro virgin) Deerhunter, they are young people out there that I like to refer to as the "Broken-hearted" not in a depressed sense but that they know God, have tasted his goodness, and will be satisfied with nothing less. On a last note, lets guard ourselves against the whole "better than thou" syndrome that I hear complaints of and witness so much in my generation. Often it is simply misguided zeal...but nonetheless detrimental.

Deerhunter, most of those young people are trying to do it alone. They know it all, and don't need God. The older you get, the more you see, and the more you learn. It doesn't take a genius to figure out you can't do it alone, we need God. It's like the stroy of a man that said,"When I was 17 I thought my parents were stupid, but when I turned 30 I realized howsmart theyreally were, and how dumb I really was." With age come experience. You are one of smart ones for your age. I commend you, and pray for you daily.Just hang in there, little brother. We are all here to help you.

Amen Rev....I like this young man too. Well folks getting past my bedtime goodnight and Godbless. "

Isaiah 440:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

You are so right about the younger generation (as a whole) having a very loose moral standard. I see this as a failure of the previous generation to lift up a standard for the younger to follow. Old fashion "hell fire and brimstone" preaching has been replaced with puppet shows, singing groups, and Sunday dinners. The power of God is never displayed in church services in todays modern, "super churches". Playing has replaced praying. Feasting has replaced fasting. Convenience has replaced conviction.
Churches are not judged by their spiritual power, but rather by their large number on the roll, by their fancy buildings, ect.
The generation of young people today are not bear all the blame. My generation is where the problem lies. We have become a generation of dumb dogs that cannot bark.

It's because no one cares when they're young.

The get older and feel empty. That's when they start looking for answers...and many find it in God. He draws people to Himself.

But...it can be done in young people too. I believe that with all my heart, this generation needs the love of God. That's why I'm going to be a Youth Pastor.

Snooky your right, but you can bring them up in church and they can experience God at a young age, but when they leave home they do what they want.
I went through this with some of my children. They were all brought up on church. They were all invloved with church. Ihauled some of them around with me to large meetings where they saw great men of God. Most of them have seen at least one miracle from God with their own eyes. But when they get out in the world and hang out with people I wouldn't allow them to be around when they were young they get on the wrong track.
My oldest daughtergot so strung out on dope she looked like a skeleton. She was shooting up speed, and I couldn't do a thing about it.Her Mom and I just continued praying for her. She was married two years ago, and I baptized her husband and her too (again) they are both now in church. I went through the same thing with my youngest daughter, she is now serving the Lord. Sometimes they just have to go out and see the world really doesn't offer true happiness. It's a shame some of them will die out there having the time of their lives. ( or what they thought was the time of their lives.)

Good for you, I believe there is a shortage of "Great Youth Pastors"
