Default reading the bible is like greek to me

I have read a few verses from the bible. A lot of them I read what did that say. Its so complex to read. For example if I read a verse to me. It sounds something like "me on gnitnuh ten fourm all thee eimt" It doesnt make sense at all.

God Bless you deerhunter! I know you are seeking the Lord, causeyou keep posting on here. Do you attend a Sunday School in any church in your area? There's where you can learn everything you want to learn from the Bible withhonesty and truehelp.

I wish I could sit at a piano and start playing Chopins Polonaise, but it will take manyyears of learning and practice. The reason most of us know the Bible is because we have been studying for many years. Youneed Sunday School Classes, brother.

Deerhunter,
Continue reading my friend. My first time through...I understood nothing. Another soldier ask me what I thought about Paul...I said and who is he.LOL He wrote 13 letters of the New Testament. After I surrendered my life to God..then I started understanding. If you understand it or not; continue and you will be blessed.

I started reading the bible about a year ago, started at the beginning and I read one chapter a day, no more no less. I pray for wisdom before I read. I am up to the book of Job right now. I figure about 2 more years for my first read thru. The bible makes more sense to me every day.

first you need to make sure you are walking with the Lord and not going through motions. You must have a genuine relationship with God. When you have this you will be able to understand the Bible far better than any Bible scholar that isnt a beleiver. If you have this then it might be the version of the Bible you are reading--like King James Version. Get the New International Version or New American Standard Version(my personal suggestion). These are in modern english and are easier to understand. When reading through the gospels, remember--think spiritual.

Good response--spiritual things are spiritually discerned, so you have to be on the right wavelength!

You may want to look into finding a NIV Study Bible. They are pretty helpful in translating Bible verses into something you can understand.

There are so many translations. Go into a Bible Book store, and let them knowwhat you are looking for. When you find one that you can understand PM me with your address and tell me what you translation you liked, what colorbible you want, I will personally go and get you that bible and send it to you for free.... Is that a deal. Thats a promise, and if I don't do it, post it on this site, and let eveyone know I am a lair... OK?

I agree with what's been said already, and I will add this.

When you find a Bible translation that you can more easily understand (don't get a paraphrase though), take the time necessary to carefully read the passages you're studying. Sometimes, it works best to read a chapter straight through and then go back to the beginning of it and read a few words at a time and stopping to think carefully about what God meant by them before you move on to the next few words. Pray before you begin for spiritual discernment and for God to open your eyes to what you're reading and for His Holy Spirit to reveal to you what He intended you to understand. I do this all the time while hunting and have received great revelations from God while enjoying His creation.
