Chuck, I spent Christmas and New Years in a crab fishing village in Sand Point Alaska in 1994. It was not uncommon to see crab legs the size of base ball bats... Good addiction! They are wonderful with garlic butter.. Itry to eat Crab legs and steak at least once a week in the summer. That's when the price gets down to almost affordable, 10.00 a pound here.
yeah...I've eatten lots of the regular ones but not the King. Good stuff. They sell them here at the Super Wally....guess what's for dinner on Christmas Eve
God bless ya Rev,
Chuck
Just went to Red Lobster and tried a new food. I'm hooked on King Crab.Better than the lobster.

Bro Chuck, When times are tough and money is short, those little blue crabs that are, (used to be) everywhere in the Gulf, aren't too bad in a pinch. All you need to harvest a good mess of them is, a peice of string, a lugnut for a sinker, a meat scrap tied to the end and a glove or net to prevent being pinched, anda pot of boiling, seasoned water to drop them in for a few minutedJust be careful not to bite your fingers.
Chesapeake Bay blue crabs steamed with Old Bay properly can not be beat!!!! Don't get me wrong King crab is excellent also along with stone crabs, but if you get a mess of FRESH (same day caught) blue crabs IMO they can not be beat!
Snooky in Va. you are allowed to use crab pots to catch them, legally with out a license you can put over one pot per family member, 4-5 pots when the crabs are running can get you a bushel of them in a day! Snooky I had to snicker a bit when you mentioned using gloves handling crabs. I was raised on the water and have never used gloves handling them, including digging one out of a bushel basket full of them. I would not reccomend handling them with out gloves though unless you have worked with them for a while. I have only gotten bit 1 time good and they will get your attention when they get a hold on ya!
