Default Heeeey I'am Back !

Glad to be back here with you brothers and sisters,

I spent a week in Georgia, Was ready to spend 2 weeks but didn't have to.

We arrived Wednesday and set up a few climbers in near swamp and red oak trees that were still dropping acorns, and we had a lot of deer sign and droppings all over.

The first day on thursday morning 12 deer walked under my tree stand and fed all around me, I had bucks from button bucks to forkys and one 6 point, I thought about taking the 6 as he looked mateur and heavy antlers.

But I held my ground, I was very eager as I had not being able to go this year at all do to the two hurricanes in my hometown.

Then I started to hear shots all over around me in the other farms and I knew or thought the deer would spook, all they did was lift their head and kept on chewing accorns.

then in the corner of my eye I saw a movement like a shadow or a ghost slipping through the tall grass at the edge of that cypress swamp, I was 25 Ft up but I still moved my eyes and slowy moved my head and saw a beautiful 11 point buck, coming towards the rest of the feeding deer.

he had 2 does with him and he was flanked on each side by 1 doe, behind him there were another 8 does, I now had 19-20 deer all over with so many eyes, it is no wonder they did not see me.

But I credit the large amount of squirrels running all around and trashing in the trees, so when I stood up and the climber cricked a little, the deer didn't even looked.

I drew my self hickory bamboo bow and as soon as the buck stepped in front or forward from the doe ,I released the bamboo cane arrow with a magnus 125gr. broadhead, the arrow took a weird flight and I thought for a second it was going to fly off into no where. But instead the arrow hit right on target behind the front legs and went in about 14 inches, it was a 12 yard shot.

The buck lipped almost back wards and fell and then got up again, all the deers started to scream their heads off, some ran and some stood looking and winding all over, I saw the buck run into another cypress head and hit against a tree and fell, I watched for about 15 minutes to see if he would get up, but I didn't see any movement.

I waited an additional 15 Minutes or so and began to climb down ,by now all the deers have left my area, I reached the buck and he was dead as a door post. The cane arrow had done the Job very clean kill.

The Problem Now was dragging this 180 LB buck ,that up to now I thought to be 120 Lbs from up above he looked smaller, a 7 year old buck.

So I had to wait 'till about 10AM to go get my son as we had agree he would stay on the stand until that time.

I sat on the floor at 7;15 AM and thought to take a nap until 9:45 and then go get Alex, But two mike clicks on my walkie talkie in my pocker told me, he wanted me to come. So I walked about 1000 yards to my SUV and took off 1 mile to where he was, he also had arrowed an 8 point buck and wanted me to track it.

It was a pass through shot and I could tell by the oxygenated red blood that it was a lung pass through, sure enouh I followed the blood drip for 50 yards in real thick briar and vine head and found the buck dead there under a red oak.

It took some dragging and we finally got all 156 LBs of meat to the SUV.

It was a good thing I had installed a trailer hitch extender tray and we tied him down and went to get mine, my injured back was now killing me.

Lucky we ran into my friend and pastor of a baptist church accross my cabin and he called a couple of his sons and we all went And got him out and it took some doing with all the thick vines and briars we have.

I now spent 4 hours skinning and prepping the skins for mounting and packing the meat ,I was exhausted and decided to shower and stay in the cabin and watch TV and wait for my wife to finish the Thanksgiving dinner.

My son went out to place another climber in another swamp.

The next Morning I sat at 6:30 AM and by 7:05 4 does came to the food plot 15 yards away, I now had taken one of my solid stick recurve self bows made out of Guava wood, I had never tried it on an animal.
It is #55 @ 28" I drew back a full draw and released the cane arrow, which also made a little weaving flight but Hit the doe at the spine and she dropped right there and then.

I put her on back of the suv and drove to the cabin and started to skin her, when my son called on the walkie talkie, He had shot another doe and a pig, so here I go again my back aching from lifting the two bucks the day before and now the 125 LB doe.

I now had to lift another doe and a 200 lbs pig.

So I caled this guy I know and he came and helped us put the animals on the suv and butchered all of them for $50 and i gave him the pig since we
don't eat pork, all in all we quit hunting and just spent the next few days scouting for new areas, we had no more freezer space and certainly not enough coolers to bring all that meat back.

Certainly the Lord bless us in this hunting trip to Georgia, I then went to my friend's baptist Church and he invited me to take over the service on sunday and do a Messianic Jewish service along with Messianic Hyms of adoration and worship.

The People were amazed and awed when we sang psalms from the Bible as they had never heard it in song and music, many were crying and filled with the spirit, one lady Got her hearing back which she had lost as a child. Another one got her voice back and was able to sing which he had not being able for many years. It looked like a pentecostal service,LOL

All in all about 30 people came to the front to accept the Lord and the pastor was amazed as many of these people had gone to his church on occasion but never had made a commitment to Christ.

So now Iam invited back in 2 weeks to a 2 day revival and Bible study concerning the hebrewness of christianity, really had a good time this week.
Glad to be back, Shalom

Alex The Hawk I am very proud to seeGod blessing you as he has. The hunting trip sounds like it was a very special time for you and your son. Sorry to here about the loss of the pictures, cameras can be replaced, the pictures though...

Alex I was wondering about the bamboo arrows. How do you control the arrow spine over the length of the arrow? How do you manage to limit any variables in spine from arrow to arrow?

Also i was wondering if you normaly do you own butchering, I mostly do all my ownbecause I trust my own butchering over someone elses. At one time way back in the dark ages I butchered for a living.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk
