The buck I got last year I called in quick on the can.
This years buck I called in quick on the can.
Another hunter in Strut's woods shot a 10 point on the ,,can
Then he got a 7 point yesterday on the ...can
If you all don't have one you may want to buy a can at Wally.
I have one. It has never, ever worked for me. I have successfully called in and harvested numerous bucks using every grunt call and bleat call I own, but the can never worked in the 2 or 3 years I tried it. I watched deer either ignore it or run away from it, but they never came in to it. That's not to say it cannot work because you, strut and others have success stories using it--I bought mine because of those success stories, but it never worked for me and now sits in a closet collecting dust.

Dave, thats cause the deer up there don't recognize that southern accent!!
baaaaaaaaaaya'll
I have one also, but prefer the tubes better . . .I may use a few calls the first day or two of the season but tend to no call at all until the rut is going pretty good. I do know that a fawn distress bleat works really good in the beginning of the seasons here. I have gotten does and a few bucks on a regular basis for yrs using it.
Also last yr I had a couple of memorable experiances using a Woods Wise Bulls eye Buck. There was a . . .desperate doe call that I thought sounded rediculous but I tried it. Liz was with me on one occasion and I literally had bucks running to the call . . .we had four that came to the call within minutes. Later on I called in two more. After that and for the rest of the season, I had very little responce to it . . . .I guess the word got out on the buck grapevine.

Chuck, you must of hit the rut just perfect, using the can! Now, if you want to kill some does after the rut, use the Fawn in DistressBleat, it's a sure killer!

I think you might have hit the nail on the head Reb. In Missouri they are in full rut. Last year on Jan1st when I shot mine they were in rut. Today and yesterday NOTHING. I did walk in on a BIG hog which splashed ,crashed through a bay head. Then I need some advice fellows. I'm going to an area that I believe is holding deer ..They are not rutting yet.Should I use my Primos grunt or rattle antlers? I'm hunting in the GTreen Swamp of central Florida. So far...1 deer has been killed and 17 hogs. Is that sad or what?

Chuck, it's pretty hard to see tracks with this dry weather we have had, but after the ground has had some rain, if you don't see any crossing tracks in the area you are hunting, there's no deer in that area. Find the crossing tracks and they will cross there again, maybe at night, but not always!
