Default Another good weekend---

I didn't shoot one, but I saw 2 nice 8 points--one was a definite shooter, and the other was a nice buck as well, along with 5 does. My buddy that took me hunting last week, shot a huge 10 point. I'll get the pics posted this evening.

This year started off so badly, with all the problems earlier, if you recall. I honestly went through a testing period, when I layed my hunting at His feet,I love to hunt, andI didn't want it to become too important in my life, so I surrendered it to His Lordship earlier this year. Soon, all the difficulties started happening, and I was a little perplexed at first. But, thenm I remembered my prayer, and told the Lord that if He saw fit to take it, then that was something that I could offer to Him that meant something to me. It's not anything as dramatic as Abraham and Isaac, but, it was a sacrifice I offered in obedience, and when it appeared He was going to actually take me up on my offer, I was thankful, but at the same time a little sad, because it does mean a lot to me--and again offered it as something special to Him. He, then began to turn things around and I have had a great season so far, a nice bear,3 deer with my bow and 2 nice 9 point bucks, with a lot more season to go--but the greatest blessing is the peace I experience when I go, knowing thatI haven't held it back from Him. I have enjoyed the times in the woods this year, more than anyI can remember.

Manuman, it sounds like the Lord is blessing your hunts. It's great to have seasons like that. Theres a lesson in here for myself also as I have to make certain that I don't put my hunting ahead of God. I have a tendancy to become all consumed with the deer woods . . .to an extent that I would never admit here[&:].
We are in our 3rd day of the first gun season here. I was in the swamp today and things are looking promising for my hunt tomorrow. The ruts some time off yet so I will prolly end up busting a few does for the freezer if nothing else. Hope your hunts continue to be successful . . .theres nothing like it.

I will tell you just how much it is a blessing from the Lord--my wife just told me that if I wanted to leave from my in-laws after T'giving day to go to the hunting property that I could!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not that I get her permission, but to have her actually suggest it is --amazing!The rut in Miss. is late in January--right? Are you any where near the Willow Point place I see on the Primos videos?

Willow Point . . .not sure, must be up aroung Philidelphia Ms? I'm hunting 50 miles inland from the Gulf Coast. Your right, our rut really starts soon after Christmas, getting better thru the first part of Feb. I see a lot of folk like the can, . . .I have one but I prefer the Woodswise tube. I use a hot doe call late January . . .I normally don't do much calling till then or even visit the stands I call from. So far it has worked for the last few yrs.
North Ms has better deer hunting in my opinion. Seems that their overall bigger with generally bigger racks. Our's compare to the Florida deer, running a little larger overall.
My heaviest deer was a 6 point with no brow tines that tipped the scales at 200lbs. Our average grown bucks will go from 140- 160, with many going smaller and some going larger.

Thye are rutting right now here. Earlier in the southern part of the state. The buck I shot las week was on a scrape line, and the ones I saw this past weekend were chasing does, or at least trailing. The buck my buddy shot was trailing and grunting, but she wasn't quite receptive yet-so, I'm hopeful that this weeend, the big boy I saw will still be hanging around as more does come into heat and the peak will occur then. It was awesome to just see him--yet I wasa little--no a lot, disappointed at not getting a shot.1 more second was all I needed! But, in perspective, I really did enjoy being able to be there and enjoy the sights.

Manuman--your testimony about laying your hunting at the Lord's feet as a sacrifice was convicting.[:'(] Bowhunting is what I love to do more than just about anything else and I tend to become "single-minded" in purpose during the seasons and place bowhunting higher on the priorities list than it probably should be. What I should do is what you did and offer it to the Lord. That's gonna be hard . . .
