Default Snake handling

does anyone know of any snake handling groups in or around central PA? Specifically i'm looking for one around Bloomsburg or Harrisburg.

I am interested in attending a service because i'm writing a report on the use of snakes in christian sects. Thanks.

Do some groups ACTUALLY do that? I'm not trying to make anyone look silly, in fact I'm probably the one who looks silly for saying this...but I think those are just stories or long-running jokes.

"There are over 100 documented deaths from serpent bites," said Hood. "In every tradition, people are bitten and maimed by them. They risk their lives all the time by handling them. If you go to any serpent-handling church, you'll see people with atrophied hands, and missing fingers. All the serpent-handling families have suffered such things."

"It's a misconception that these people believe they won't get hurt," Hood explains. "The Bible says to take up serpents, not that they won't be bitten. If they're bit, that's up to God. The issue is obedience to God. There's no magic power type of stuff. They know the reality of it because so many families have had people hurt and killed."
Interesting cut and paste. No I don't handle snakes. LOL

Well, I can't point you to PA, but in Eastern Ky if interested. By the way, I sure don't agree with it. My brothers in laws were big on it. But the father just about died 5 years ago. Most of the people in it, ain't the most stable in the world. He would go and preach at these things and then go back and hit on his wife and get drunk. He has kinda settled down.

An exact number is unknown due to the autonomy of each individual group, but estimates range between 1,000 and 2,000 total church members Snake handlers can be found as far south as central Florida, where i live, and as far west as Columbus, Ohio and as far north as West Virginia.
