Default Sunday Hunting

I know this has been discussed before and is currently being discussed on on other forums, but I am looking for some opinions on Sunday Hunting. From a religious standpoint, do you have a problem with Hunting on Sunday's?

In the county of WV where I hunt it is illegal so I do not hunt on Sunday, however if it were legal, I don't think I would have a problem spending my Sunday in the deer woods.

I am interested in how you guys/gals feel about this also.

I can say that I DO NOT agree that it is a place for the government or any other agency to say who can and can't hunt on Sunday if it is because of religious reasons. There are people that believe the sabbath is Saturday, and yet other that practice other days of the week.

Here was my experience for fishing4 Sundays in a row. Since then I have learned...Don't skip church to do your outdoor hobby.

First Sunday. I got a bullet sinker in my eye.

Second Sunday..I got a rattle trap stuck in my arm. I had to have the hooks cut out.

Third Sunday...A female game wasrden fined me for not having a whistle in the tackle box. 45.00 fine

Fourth...I'm a slow learner..I dropped my only set of car keys in the deep lake.

I still do fish and hunt on Sunday but.....I am home on time to go to church.. Fact I am fishing for crappie Sun. Morning. I will be home at 9:30 AM for church.

I'm agin' it.

I have a number of reasons why I'm against hunting on Sundays, but I'll limit myself here to just the spiritual aspect. Everyone knows that the best chances for game is in early morning and late afternoon -- that's the same time as most church services. You can make the choice to go to church instead of hunting, but, even for committed Christians, the temptation to be in the woods might too great and could win out on a regular basis. Remove the availability and you remove the temptation. You'll be in church instead. You might be thinking, "you know if I move that stand to the northeast corner, I just might catch that old boy tomorrow." . . .but you'll be worshipping with others as God commands.

Now if it it done before or after church and doesn't interferere with your normal corporatel worship, I have no SPIRITUAL quarrel with that.

I mostly stay home on Sundays Dave but I volunteered to help out with their Flea market. Therefore I felt ok about speck fishing 3 hours before church. Today was awesome. A lady started an after school prayer meeting today .Five of us showed up .It was great. Again...leave iot to a women to get the ball rolling. It's a Baptist program Called Mom's In Prayer. Since it's in the school it's been changed to Teacher's in Prayer. It's a very structured prayer time.

Matt.18:20
[20] For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Saturday night when we break camp, we all study anybook of the Bible and Sunday morning we eachdiscuss what and share what we studied. We have a mini srvce in camp before we head for the woods. I have doing this for over 45yrs.

For me personally, I will not hunt on Sunday at all. I beleive that if I was was to hunt and/or fish I would not be obeying the whole law of the sabbath. In the ancient law, the Loed required the full 24 hours from Sundaown to sundown.

The new law requires our hearts. I combine both. I give a full day because Lord rested a full day. He wants my heart, so i give him a full day. If I am truly born again with a full broken heart and a contrite spirit, I feel I must obey the full law.

Now I don't condemn any of you who decide to hunt or fish on the full day or part of the day. For me, to give one day without hunting is a small sacrifice I can take to my personal altar with Christ. I have six other days (Well after work and with careful planning on a Saturday).

God Bless,

Porter.
