If you have carpenter skills it won't be bad at all. Depends alot on how the inside window trim is attached to the window. I know in Fla. you probably live in a block house. Alot of times there is no window trim on those. Make sure you put them in level and plumb.

You will have to figure that out when you take one out. Once you can see what is in there you will know what you can do to fasten the new ones. I live in Kansas my friend our houses are all wood.

OK Thanks Sir,
My only concern is tha there is no trim. I would reckon I will have to caulk it around the edge. IMy home is all block.
Thanks for replying. I always ask questions before I get into a project. I would imagine I will have to buy windows a little smaller than the block hole and build it in with pressure treated wood. Real thin pressure treated wood.
Chuck
well chuck i deal with this all the time its what i do . making the window smaller by 3.5 in.is the best way if it has
to be trimed out,but it can be done other ways to ,1by will work but thats just alittle better than not useing wood at all .or you could just fitit to the hole shim it level and use exspanding fome to fill in the gaps ,but DO NOT use the stuff that over exspands only use the door and window stuff and dont try to fill the cavity if you cant use fome just use caulk (it will hold better than you may think)

I've done lots of remodeling and I like to ask questions before I get into someting new. I remember asking this question to a friend before and they said you won't be able to find a perfect window to replace the existing one.
Thanks Cataway.
Chuck, speaking as someone who has done a bit of this, Cat Away has given you some very good advice.
Besure to ask about anything you don't plainly or completely understand, just like the expanding foam Cat Away mentioned, there are several kinds that have different levels of expansion.
I learned this the hard way when I used the wrong type around my front door cassing when I built my house.
Thanks
Mr-Pirk

I found that doityourself.com is a good resource for those of us who can do the work, just never learned. If you're not good with hands on stuff, it's better to leave it to the pros. I used to lay tile for a living, but that don't mean I'm good at plumbing! I use it all the time for at home projects.
