Default Dreams????

Bretheren what are your thoughts on dreams?

I had one last night that disturbed me, it involved my ex, all the anger and hate I used to have for her came out in the dream. Some how I feel as though in my deep subconscious I still hate her, that worries me in more ways then one.

Here is another question in regards to the same dream, do you feel in some cases you actually can maintain control of yourself in a dream?

The reason I ask that is because I went to punch her (I have never hit a woman in real life) and at the last instant I pulled the punch and told her "You aren't worth it!"

This bothers me both as a Christian and a human.....Why?

Taz,
Dreams are very powerful. I don't know if they are all from the Lord or not but I know know some are. God led Joseph in a dream/ God led Paul in a dream to the folks in Macadonia. God has spoken to me many times right before I wake up in the morning. Once I had a dream of Revelation where the stars fell to the earth. Usually when I have a problem the Lord will speak to me the answer the very next day about 1/2 hour before I wake up.

The other day my son bought a nice 98 Dodge Sport Magnum. Our boat trailor tongue is a 1 7/8 inch ball. The ball on his truck is a 2" ball. We did everything we knew how to remove that ball.It was seriously rusted on. We each had a wrench with a 6' galvanized pipe and it would not budge. I had no gas in my torch so I just gave up . Later on in the day while I was doi gsomething else my inner thought said Drill through the nut. I went straight back home got out the center punch and drill and removed the nut. " He leadeth me oh blessed thought ...whatever I do where ever I go
still tis God 's hand that leadeth me."

Taz,

As a fellow divorcee, I understand what your going through. It's been a while now, but every now and then, the feelings come back, dream or not. After years of struggling and praying, I've come to this result. It's upon us to love our fellow man, even if it is our ex-wife. But it's natural to hate the things she did, said, or the way she made you feel. That's O.K. As long as you don't let it consume you. Those feelings may never really go away. Especially if you had children with her. And the fact that it was a dream, I wouldn't worry about it. I would think it's better to be hateful in a dream, than in real life. Decide whether you hate her, or the things she did, and respond accordingly. From your writings here, I know you'll know how to handle it.

elgallo you bring out some excellent points, you are right, I don't hate her, I hate what she has done. What she has done does not consume me, it did for quite a while and the main reason it did was due to the three children we had together. After three kids and 17 years of marriage out of the blue she told me "I don't want to be married any more and I don't want to be a mother any more!!!! There were a ton of other self centered things she did after that day, but it has been years since those things were done. In many ways I feel sorry for her, I know the guilt of what she did to the kids eats at her on a daily basis. She now tries to make up for it to the kids who are grown now, they love her, but they still remember what she did to them. There was a time when all three kids did hate her, but I made sure that they had all the contact they could with thier mother which has resulted in them loving her again.

There are several things I will say good about my ex, she never bad mouthed me to the kids, she paid her child support, and she backed me up 100% as far as any rules I laid down for the kids.

I think that sometimes God used dreams to show us what would happen if we made certain choices. I have had dreams where I made bad choices that I was contemplating in real life and the results of the choice were horrible! I have woken up sometimes relieved that it was only a dream and that I did not make a certain choice in real life.

You can't be responsibe for your dreams. Dreams only last for a few seconds normally at durning the REM stage of sleep (Rapid Eye Movement). How can you control a few second thought, even though it may seem it was for hours... I've had dreams that disturbed me greatly, things I would never do or be involved in.
Funny you brought this up, I woke up this morning thinking about I dream I had last night... Don't know why, but I was feeding a squirrel some alpha sprouts by hand... ? Where did that come from? I have been sending Bro Reb Hog some PM's..... couldit be ! Don't get mad, I love you Mijo!

Personally, I would consider that dream a blessing. Unforgiveness hurts ourselves more than anyone else. I would guess that a good deal of unforgiveness lingers, probably understandably, toward your former spouse. My advice, get down and ask God to help you forgive. If you feel led, ask her to forgive you for those feelings, and for any wrong you may have done in the marriage, no matter if it were only in response to her wrongs. Don't expect her to apologize, or even accept yours. Don't take blame for anything you are not responsible for, but admit where you were wrong. It is amazingly liberating. Particularly in those 'stubborn' cases.
God bless

Rev I guess if I told you about dreaming about deer walking underneath a tractor trailer while I am driving you would find that amusing or related to PMs with Rebel! Or maybe the dream about suddenly being surrounded by elk!

Oh, the horror!!! Particularly if you are loaded for squirrel, and a huge P&Y bull tauntingly prances by at the lead.

Since I was little I've had the reocurring dream of falling off a cliff backwards. I never see the ground, only stare at the ledge I fell from the whole way down. Never hit the ground, always wake up with a jolt. Wish I had a nickel for every time I've had it.
