lusting

Lusting over women is wrong. I am sure every guy in here has done it from time to time. Say you are watching a movie good clean family movie with your wife. There is a woman in the movie you think is good looking. Thats all you do not going to hunt her down and try and marry her look her up on the net. Is it still lust? Also how in the heck are you suppose to meet a woman by not looking at them. Say you are at work and you see this woman you look at her. You say wow she is good looking. Is that still lusting? You cant just blindly pick a woman and call her your wife.

To me there is a distinct difference between lust and appreciating beauty.

If you look at a woman and think about what she would BE like you are lusting for her.

If you see a beautiful woman and simply think she is beautiful and that is it, it is not lust.

My wife will point out a beautiful women to me and both of us will agree she is beautiful.

To me there is no difference between the beauty of a woman and the beauty of the mountains, they are both something that God created and to look upon and appreciate the beauty of Gods creation is not lustful. To look upon something for something other then its beauty and to think impure thoughts about it is lust.

There is a big difference between God-given and God-forbidden. God instilled the natural attraction between men and women. He created us with the intention of us being drawn to the opposite sex and reproducing -- so THAT part of it is ordained by God.

Where it becomes sin is when you decide that you would commit a sexual sin with that woman if given the opportunity. I KNOW I'll never be with Shania Twain, but if I think that I would commit an immoral act with her, that's sin, even if I never met her. She's awesomely beautiful for sure, and God knows I will realize that. But I have to control my thoughts and actions beyond that realization.

As to whether it's something this guy's"yanking our chain"or not: Why does it matter? Even if he happened to be putting us on, what if there were a person here afraid to ask for fear of being ridiculed? The discussions we're having would benefit him/her even if it were all a sham.

I agree grasshpper13, I struggle with this every day whenever I see a woman. Am I lusting or am I just noticing she is beautiful? This discussion has helped some.
