Yes, of course we pray for sinners. We are all sinners to some extent or another. Generally, I pray for that person to receive the Word of God, so that they may see their sinful ways, repent, and change them.

Dave...
I prayed for a bunch yesterday. Here is my point of reference in praying for sinners.
5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Brother Chuck
You can pray about anything that you want. If it's something that worries you, lay it at the Master's feet, He"ll take care of it. If it's something your happy about, share your joy with Him, I know that has to make His day. If it's something you need guidance for, ask and He'll show you the way. God's never too busy to listen to His children. I've heard it put like this: If you had children, and they never called, after a while you'd wonder what's wrong. God doesn't wonder what's wrong, but I'm sure He gets concerned that were trying to handle too much by ourselves.
As far as praying for a sinner, I usually pray that someone or something will open their eyes to the sinful life they're settling for. I pray that an opprtunity will arise for myself or someone else to approach them about becoming a christian. Finally I pray that God will soften their hearts to hear what He would have them do.
Hope this helps!

I prayed for my children before they were saved (still pray for family everyday). I have prayed for fellow workers who weren't saved and were facing some difficult issues. I have prayed for salvation of unsaved, protection of others, etc. etc.
Yes, you can and should pray for the unsaved.

Oh man, this is a tough one. I struggle with this.I ask my brother this constantly.God is great, so great, he knows all of our hearts, he knows all who needs help. He knows what is to come and what has happened. So when we pray for someone, do we think we are changing his mind? Absolutely not. Are we getting him to take note of someone that he might have skipped over?
See what I am asking.
My Brother in Christ, Timsent me some verses and said maybe it would help me understand. Still need to study them.
Luke 21:36
1 Thes 5:17
Matt 26:41
Phil 4:6
James 5:16
Bigcountry,
I see what your saying. It does bring up an interesting question, one I've thought about myself. I look at it this way. Perhaps you were intended to pray for that individual. Perhaps prayer on your part is not enough, maybe you were intended to pray, AND personally intervene with that sinner. I don't pretend to know what God's plan for me is. He unveils it to me day by day. Another way to look at it would be to question why Jesus himself prayed. If it was all worked out to the letter, and no amount of praying would change the result, Jesus would have had no reason to pray. The Bible tells us to pray, and Jesus set the example, I'll go with that.

I see what you are saying on this but couldn't we apply that to everything else too? Afterall God knows all and has a plan for everything so really what would be the point of praying at all? We are told to pray so I don't think there is any problem at all praying for the unsaved.
