15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to
For all the really smart Bible People.
How does this apply to the year 2005 today ?
Matthew 25:15-29
15.And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability;
and straightway took his journey.
16.Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17.And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18.But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
19.After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20.And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21.His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22.He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23.His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24.Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord,
I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25.And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26.His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not,
and gather where I have not strawed:
27.Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28.Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29.For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Thank You Very Much

We have to do this first! If not you have nothing.
21.His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

RE: 15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to
I don't consider myself to be real smart, but as I understand it the coins, or talents, are what God gives us to work with.
For instance, you might have the ability and be in a situation where you have a chance to do a lot of good and bring a lot of people to the Truth--you would be the man with 5 talents. The man with 5 talents had a lot to work with, and he doubled what he had to start with.
Someone else might not be quite as skilled at talking to folks, or just live somewhere that doesn't have many people or as many opportunities to bring people to God. This is the man with two talents. He didn't have as much to work with, but he still doubled what he started with.
Yet another may live in a secluded area, maybe with only a few friends and afamily member or two that they see on a regular basis, and/or just very shy and not much of a speaker. This is the man with one talent. He didn't try at all. This would be like one that woudln't even try to talk with close friends and family members and bring them to God.
God doesn't expect any more from us that we can give, but he does expect us to use our "talents" as best we can.

To me what applied then still applies today, if God gives us something and we merely stash it away and do nothing with it, we will be rewarded with exactly what he gave us.....nothing. Now if God gives us even a single gift and we take that gift and use it to gain more for God then we have been a good steward of Gods and we will be rewarded with more then what God gave us.

Seems that the word "talent" is the gift that the Lord has given you. Every Christian is given special "gifts" by God (see I Cor. 12 for one reference). These gifts could very well be a TALENT you have in something. How you use this God-given talent for God is important to Him. If you waste it and don't use what He gave you, you're doing like the fellow that was given one talent. If you use it for God, then you will be rewarded for that.

I don't think I could have explained it better myself.
