I was on another board and a poster there qouted a few verses and stated that he couldn't vote for a woman to be President. Is this a widely held belief?

Paul commands women to learn in silence (1 Tim. 2:11). They are not permitted to teach or have authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:12-13). Paul cites God's creation of the human race when giving this command:
Adam was formed first, then Eve (1 Tim. 2:13). Adam was not deceived, but the woman (1 Tim. 2:14). Paul also cites creation while teaching about man's authority over woman in 1 Corinthians 11:2- 9:
Man is the head of woman because woman is from man and was created for the man (1 Cor. 11:8-9). Therefore, God ordained the social order of authority between man and woman at creation. Paul's command that women are to learn in silence with all submission (1 Tim. 2:11) was not culturally applicable only to New Testament Christians. And, Paul's command that a woman is not permitted to teach or have authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:12) was not culturally applicable only to New Testament Christians. Paul's commands are applicable to every Christian in every age.
I was just wondering because I've seen folks here say they shouldn't be allowed to speak in church etc.

All the times that I studied these verses, if I remember correctly, they were refferring specifically to roles within the church or marriage. I could be wrong, though.

Charlie, to me that means that a woman is not to teach the word of God at the Podium of a congregation or in a church governing body. It does'nt mean to be silent in other church activities.

I could vote for a woman. Margaret Thatcher was a good Prime Minister and is an example of someone I could have voted for. Condoleeza Rice could be another candidate.
Hillary Clinton is someone I could NEVER vote for.
