A woman at my church, Vicki, was training for the Columbus marathon, when back pain prompted her to see the doctor. A few tests revealed liver cancer. A few more tests revealed cancer that had spread through pretty much her whole body. After one chemo treatment, the doctors told her that there wasn't much to be gained, and she should just try to be comfortable in her remaining days. They gave her 2 weeks, and sent her to hospice.
Vicki is 32 years old, and is married, with a 4 year old daughter.
Vicki is flooded with guests. Any time anyone asks her "what can I do for you?" or "How can I help?" Vicki responds with, "Do you know my Lord and savior Jesus Christ?" and continues to witness to them. She has gotten at least 12 people to go to church. Will they accept Christ? Would they if Vicki hadn't witnessed to them?
Vicki's husband went to church for the first time this past Sunday. I can't predict the future, but in the tragedy of Vicki's death, isn't it wonderful that her husband may come to receive the gift of eternal life?
Vicki started to feel better. She left Hospice. Doctors ran tests, and the tumors are shrinking.Doctor's have resumed chemo, as the "no hope for recovery" diagnosis has been reversed! She was at church Saturday night.
That is ome great news Eto! There are a lot of questions raised when it comes to healing. It is never an issue of if He can, or if He would want to. We all will die, some sooner than others, and even if He does heal her completely--and I hope He does--she will die eventually--unless He returns first. He is the Healer and demonstrates His authority over all disease when He does. The ultimate end for us all is to be ready when our time comes. His reasons fro why He does sometimes and not other times are for Him to know---but the offer remains to all to receive His eternal life--life after the physical death that is the result of our sin.Her unwavering faith in the face of this terrible disease and her pointing people toward Christ at a time when many would be feeling sorry for themselves , shows the depth of her relationship with Christ and the peace that passes understanding that He promises. I wil pray for her and her family, hoping for a complete healing. But, I will not question--although Ido understand the existence of fear and questinong among those that are much closer---His allowance , one way or the other. I would hope that I could demonstrate the same faith that she is, if I were in her place.
