RE: Philosophy and Reasoning vs. Revelation
THat's a good question, and I don't have time right now to answer it in a manner that is fitting. But, to give a very brief reply, yes , God does and will use reason, philosophy, among numerous other venues to bring conviction. Conviction is something that we are convinced of. For some it is not an intellectual issue, they are already certain in their mind, but that is not faith. God draws men unto Himself, and He deals with each individually, knowing our make up and everything about us. If one needs to have intellectual issues resolved , then of course logic and reason are a tool. It can be His method of revealing Himself, via logic that ultimately will ead him to the Word, and the full revelation of Christ, once the intellectual issue is overcome. For some, you can have all the answers in the world, and it doesn't matter. The Scripture of the rich man asking to return to his brothers to convince them to repent shows this. The answer was they already have the law and prophets, if they won't receive them, a resurrected man won't change their heart.
