Default Philosophy and Reasoning vs. Revelation

So...do you think God can only be revealed to a person through a personal revelation of Himself to them? Or do you believe that God can be revealed through people through, reason and logic? If there is any truth in philosophy, and God is the only truth, couldn't that truth be a tidbit of God?

Can God use the human mind, through logic and reasoning to reveal Himself?Apart from a religious type of personal revelation of the truth?

Elaborate...

Default RE: Philosophy and Reasoning vs. Revelation

THat's a good question, and I don't have time right now to answer it in a manner that is fitting. But, to give a very brief reply, yes , God does and will use reason, philosophy, among numerous other venues to bring conviction. Conviction is something that we are convinced of. For some it is not an intellectual issue, they are already certain in their mind, but that is not faith. God draws men unto Himself, and He deals with each individually, knowing our make up and everything about us. If one needs to have intellectual issues resolved , then of course logic and reason are a tool. It can be His method of revealing Himself, via logic that ultimately will ead him to the Word, and the full revelation of Christ, once the intellectual issue is overcome. For some, you can have all the answers in the world, and it doesn't matter. The Scripture of the rich man asking to return to his brothers to convince them to repent shows this. The answer was they already have the law and prophets, if they won't receive them, a resurrected man won't change their heart.

Greg,
Nice reply. For my schoalarly wife yes....it was a logic issue. For me nah. I knew the salvation message very good. I was saved when the revelation came to me that God forgives gross sinners and gives us the Holy Ghost to help us. I knew within myself I am utterly helpless. I still feel the same each day. I am nothing apart from him. A day without walking in the Spirit is an unhappy day indeed.

Manuman that was a great answer, when I read his question I got a head ache!My coming to Christ was a combination of reasoning and logic which led to my mind being opened to the Holy Ghost who testified to me the divinity of Christ.
