We had a thread here awhile back about trusting another man's vision.
Something that has been floating around in the back of my mind since has came forward.
When I study a vision or a revelation a person may claim I judge by #1 does it agree with the rest of God's words. #2 do I find any examples simular to the vision or revelation in God's word.
One type of vision that some folks have claimed over the years has been of the virgin Mary. At times they seem to be endorsed by a church\faith.
I can not find even one example of God using the figure of a woman as a super-natural messenger.
Can you think of any examples in the bible for a vision of a woman as a messenger of God?
Do you accept any of the visions of the virgin Mary as being real?
Thanks

Interesting topic Mark, there seem to be a lot of claims to Virgin Mary sightings. I think she appears mostly to Catholics tho.[&o] Myself, I don't believe that the mother of Christ appears, and theres prolly some catholics that don't either, . . I reckon.

To believe that a dead person can appear and give out messages is to violate the commandment ,not to consort and consult the dead, for which the prophet Samuel cursed King Saul and he died, after he summond him from the dead by a spiritist woman.
If the apparissions exist it is of Satan trying to divert millions of people as he has to believe in another mediator besides Christ.
I deal on this subject personallyon a daily basis as I have many Cuban Americans in my Church that believe in these things.
"For there is only one mediator between man And God, Christ The Man Jesus"

Leaf River Mac what is scary for me is that a church\faith would endorse a thing that furthered their views inspite of any bibilical evidence.
Not picking\bashing any certian church\faith, it just is an example of how a person might blind themselves to what everyone else sees.
Any chruch\faith that does that knowingly makes me suspect of what else they endorse.
Thanks

The Catholic Church teaches that public revelation stopped with the death of the last apostle (Vatican II, Dei Verbum 4) but private revelation has continued.
Private revelation, That is another bag. Some on here have made that claim. My neighbor has them all the time.
I think it is rather ironic that the visions of Joseph Smith(1827--golden plates from the angel, Moroni), and the visions that Muhammad , at age 40 began to have, have led to countless lives being deceived and could have been prevented by a knowlege of the Scripture. Since both came several hundred years after the Scripture was written, and due to the nature of the stern warnings given, had they been heeded, we would have never had to contend with these diversions of the truth. The first is in Galatians 1:6-9. An angel appeared to Joseph Smith, with another gospel. What if he had hathe knowledge to turn away this deceiver by way of the truth here? Muhammad himself, was concerned that the visions he was receiving were, at best, not from God, and even thought there source was demonic. It was his older wife Khadijah, that convinced him, or should I say deceived him, into believing them. As a result--well, as Paul Harvey says--now you know thw rest of the story.Oh--the other Scripture is Revelation 22:18-20. Think of the ramifications, had they not been ignorant of His warnings in the Word!
