1 Bible and many denominations

why is this? I dont know but i have my opinions. i do believe in Jesus Christ being the Son of God. I do believe that no person will go to the Father except through Jesus. I do believe that a person can read scripture and understand it differently than me. I do believe that there will be a lot of surprised people on the day Jesus raptures his bride. and i do believe a lot of people will be surprised when they see that person they never thought would be there.

Its sad to see such division on earth when we all should beliving for one God.

Here is my one sentence answer. A lack of God's Spirit and love causes divisions.

Just my opinion, but the main reason for denominations is Man. Man has a horrible thing that is spelled out in the Bible as being sinful and that is Pride! A Man decides that he is gifted by God with a full understanding of scripture and this Man decides that his understanding is the right one, this Man's know it all condemning Pride drives away other Men due to thier own Pride and beleif that thier understanding of scripture is the right one and differs from the other Mans.

The long and short of it is, Man and his Pride is the reason for denominations.

Man deciding who is right and who is wrong.

A lot of people assume that a pergfect word would lead to perfect readers. This is not the case with man, as Taz pointed out. We can just pray for wisdom and guidance, and do our best to to be influenced away from the truth by outside sources.

And...it's interesting our own interpretations work very good for us individually. It's other folks who interfere and say guess what.,youhave it all wrong. Funny , been working for me for years.

Good Answer Taz, Man is the problem and always will be. As far as denominations, there are none mentioned in the Bible and no Headquarters. One body of Christ!

While I agree strongly with Taz on this, I will add that Satan is the author of confusion and he will stop at nothing in his attempts to confuse and confound anyone who wants to know more about God. God's Word is perfect and contains no errors in the original manuscripts. Anywhere that satan can slip in an erroneous understanding of God's word, he will do just that.

I agree Taz, and Dave. The biggest one thing I've noticed is pride. People have a problem admitting a mistake, especially when it's one they have believed for years. A preacher, their grandparents, someone famous says it on t.v. or a website, and it just HAS to be so, regardless of what the Bible says. I don't like being wrong either, but my soul is more important than foolish pride. I've been wrong so many times you'd think I'd be used to it by now, but sometimes it's still hard to swallow.
