Default Accepting God's Word.

Friends,
I am writing this in reference to the hot post about Sin. I'm seeing some folks who are die hard literalist on the Word in some areas and yet die hard IMHO in others. When I came to Christ, if I readthat the sky is orange..I would except that and call it orange no matter if my mind tells me it's blue. Even if my eyes tell me it's blue and every church tells me it is blue. I'm not perfect, but I do know it pleases God when we stand on His Word and trust in Him instead of leaning on our own understanding. No one has dared talked about how God ordered the execution of complete families because the dad disobeyed God. Talking about Achan here my friends. God is God. Fear Him ,,and trust Him and it wil go well with thee. We are not His instructors. He is the creator of the universe and knows what He is doing.
Love ya,
Chuck

Chuck I understand why you have posted this thread, it is good for a man to not be like a fallen leaf, being blown this way and that with the latest-greatest new teaching.

That being said, adressing the reason that seems to be behind your posting this thread.

Why was there a New-Testament?

Chuck I know there are some quick answers that will pop in your head, but refrain from posting them till you have pondered onthe question abit.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk

Mr. Pirk,
Good morning sir,
The New Testament is a " better Covenant." Also, it wasn't that God messed up with the Old Testament but He had the New Testament in mind from the "foundations of the world." his main goal...IMHO to save the world. The New Testament was also written "that we might KNOW HIM ."And that we might have hope and eternal life through Jesus.

Mr. Pirk,

First of all please accept this as a quiet tone of voice as friend speaking with friend. Sometimes folks misunderstand the tone.

I have noticed there are 4 or 5 main line'denominations' on here that have very big differences. This plays a big part in everyones responces.

They are
1, Oneness Theologians
2. Baptist Theologians
3. Church of Christ Theologians
4. And the rest of us..Theologians

There are some serious differences with all of these. I have been trying real hard to stay out of these conversations and promice to continue. My pride probably gets me involved in which I do apologize. It seems as very few agree with me. I'm not boo hoo ing either. It just shocks me that I am so different. And I really believe I take a pretty literal view. It has been causing me to read my Bible much slower. I hope I'm making since. I have drank way to much coffee/ thus the ranting and raving. I highlighted the main thoughts.

I think that you should take into consideration that when the subject matter is "babies/children" going to hell, that there are folk that have lost children, young relatives, etc. These folk will have searched for an answer in the scripture to give them hope and assurance that their young loved one is resting in the arms of Jesus. This is why I don't get to far off in the subject as we can't do anything for the dead , but the living. There are many hope verses for those who have lost children, . .why hammer that into the ground.

I hear ya Leaf,
And apologize for my lack of insensitivity. I will say this...if I were in the same situation I would stand on this verse.

Acts 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

16:34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

Leaf,
I beleive God saves house holds. Therefore as a dad I need to live to my utmost for the sake of my family. I see that pattern throughout the Old and New. Dads LIVE FOR GOD!!! It's the best security you can give your family.

PS
I can relate a little. I lost a baby sister at birth. I have no scriptures to back up where she is....only the character of God. The God I have come to know is a God of love. There is a scripture I believe in Isaiah that says when one has died early it's because God has taken them for himself. This is one of the problems of reading the Old in a different version. Too hard to find scriptures in the Strongs. If anyone knows where that scripture is I'd be a thanking you.
