A Superior Atonement for sin

In the Old Testament we see the process for a sin offering. We also see an atonement made for Aaron and his sons.

A hint, were Aaron and his sons considered guiltless for past sins after recieving theatonement for sin?

Are these the same thing?

What does "Atonement" mean to you as described in the Old Testament?

Jesus makes an atonement for our sins today.

How is that atonement superior?

I am intrested to see what you dig up on the subject.

Good morning Mr. Pirk,

In the Old Testament the sacrifice with animals truly was a substitute { scape goat if you will} but they could not free me from the guilt . But it did appaease God and the punishment that I deserved when on the animal. This sacrifice is only a temporary thing and does nothing to fix the problem. It works as a substitute.

In the New Testament the sacrifice of Christ Jesus was once and for all. It not only cleanses me from all unrighteousness but frees me from the guilt and shame. According to Hebrews God is very offended when folks take this sacrifice lightly. This sacrifice cleanses me through and through. It makes me right before God. This sacrifice brings me into right standing with God and fellowship. let us come to the throne of Grace boldly .
