Default A Hunters Verse!

God is so lavish in all that He"™s done to make this great world such a wonderful one. His mountains are high, His oceans are deep and vast and unmeasured the prairielands sweep.

In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peeks belong to him. Psalm 95:4

Today admire the artistry of God: purple mountain peaks, white-capped oceans of blue, golden-hued fields of wheat. God"™s palette of colors remains unmatchable.

Brother that to me is the best thing about hunting, forget the kill, drinking in the beauty that God has blessed us with makes every minute sitting on stand well worth it.

Amen,
Next week I plan to make a list of the wildlife I am blessed of seeing in the Florida Swamp. The birds are migrating and I hope my new Leupold binoculars arrive this week that I won a bid on. They are good ones.

Seen some deer this opening weekend and it was great to be back out in the woods. A little warm for good movement, only seeing deer early and late. The woods are alive with beauty. Nature is also cruel, I heard something getting attacked about a half hour before sun up. Man it was loud. Went on for about 5 minutes. I also watched a racoon try and fight off 2 stray dogs for about 30 minutes in the shallow waters of the creek. That was one mean racoon but couldn't overcome the hungry strays. Well I'll work hard this week and get back out there this weekend. Good luck friends.

Chuck,

Did you get those new top of the line Gold Rings or another in the Leupold line? I was wondering how the Pinnacle line of Leupold would compare to my 10x42 Cabelas Alaskan Guidee model. I compared them in the store and the Leupold pinnacle line seemed pretty good. They were about $40 less than my Alaskan Guides. I went with the Cabelas brand because they had a full lifetime warranty and I could just walk them in to the store only 15 min from my house if there were any problems. However, I really liked the Leupold Pinnacle version. I wanted to step up from my Bushnell 8x42 Legends. I still keep my Bushys though. Great for in close work among the tons of aspens while Elk hunting.

God Bless,

Porter.

The Saturday before bow season I met the local Audubon group. They ask if I would take my 2 students and check off the bird species on a new trail. I was really ticked at my cheap binoculars. The serious birders use 10x42 binoculars. I found alot of good stuff but the canopy and lighting was horrible. So my cheap Bushnell only revealed 26 species of birds.I missed about 6 great birds because of the dim lighting. No...the gold rings I believe are close to 900 bucks. That is out of my league. I got the green rings. Supposed to be clear . close range and great for low light situations. Will not fog up.New they are 428.00 New on E-bay I won the bid shipping included for 300.00 October is the prime month for migratory birds. I get to school early to take students on bird walks . We record data and they love it. I also give them a test in May to see if they can
get a certificate.

The bird below is a common fellow. The Yellow Warbler. The field mark is the rusty streaks on the breast. I see them alot about 6 feet off the ground near the fishing holes. Most warblers ear insects and are found high in the canopy of oak trees.

And this is the Common Yellow throat. God is wonderful. These beautiful birds bring a little joy while sitting in the stand. These are Florida residents and always found in the swamps.
