Default why i struggle in college

I am struggleing in school right now. I know everyone struggles but i seem to struggle more. I think I have some type of learning problem. My average grades are C's. I try and study I tend to do poorly on test. I have gotten like 2 A's on test while in college. Most test I get like C's and D's. My last round of exams I took i failed 2 out 3 of them. My major by the way is Mechanical engineering technology. I like what I am doing. Why does God make some people smart while others not. Is God testing my faith to see if I will get mad at him for not making me not a genius. I have failed two classes. My parents get mad because the fork all this money over. I am trying maybe not 110%. When studying for test I feel I know the material. I am sorry this had to be so long. I am just really questioning why most things come so hard to me.

Mechanical Engineering!!! Talking about a tough major. I know I couldn't get good grades in iy. Have you talked to a guidance counselor about maybe having your major changed. We are all different. We have different talents and skills. Just maybe you are not cut out to be a mechanical man. Have you tried getting a tutor. I had to get help in college...my wife. Submit your future and schooling unto the Lord my friend. He knows what is best. He also knows what he is doing in the make up of every male and female. Give God thanks for what you have and not what you don't have. You are a genius compared to many in the USA. The true knowledge and wisdom are found in Christ Jesus. The wisdom of man will come to nought.
Loe ya,
CHuck

Hello Deer Hunter, very nice to meet you.
You ask an intresting question, paraphrasing, Why does God choose to bless us with the talents we have.

The short answer, to serve his purpose.

I see you have met Chuck, he has been given the gift of, finding love for his fellow man, stronger than anyone else I have ever conversed with.
I struggle with that short coming often.

I would be very intrested to know why you chose a mechanical engineering major, I know if I was choosing, that is the field I would study. God has gifted me with a very sharp mechanical mind. I left home when I was 16 years old, I did manage a little collage, but very little.
My wife often asks me why I spend so much time reading, I explain, because I want to learn. This life is short, I want to learn everything I can. The biggest part of my reading is the Quest Study Bible NIV. When I think about your question it puts me in mind of where I am currently reading in my bible, there was a fellow God chose to do the delicate mechanical work on the ark of the covenant and tabernacle and such. The bible says the fellow recived a special blessing to be able to do the work needed.

So my question back to you is, why did you choose mechanical engineering as a major?
What is your special gift? Have you chosen the wrong field, or is it just that the class material being taught in a way thet you have a hard time grasping?
Your answer may allow me to go a bit deeper.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk

Well, I understand your pain deerhunter. It took me 5 years to get thru BS in EE. So your taking alot of the same classes I did. You got to ask yourself, is this really what you want to be? Reason I say this, is I went thru EE program cause its my nature to stay the course wrong or right. I always finish. Looking back, I wish I did something I really enjoyed. My office is like a prison to me sometimes. Negotiations with all therich peopleandpeople who don't believe in God drives me crazy. In the engineering field, you will work with alot of athiest, hindus, etc. People make alot of money, and it owns them, it almost owned me. I still struggle with that. I want to be surrounded by likeminded folks.I look out at the power guys working on the power poles and look and wish I wouldn't have pushed so hard to finish EE. I love the outdoors. I love feeling the seasons on my face. I hate having a profession, I have to live near a large city.

But now after writing this, God has sincerely blessed me. I am so thankful for all he has given me. He has given me the chance to travel all over Europe, Asia, and every state in the US. So looking back sorry for the belly aching.

My point is, I know I got lost on a tangent, maybe God is steering you to something else. If you are praying hard, maybe he is yelling something. I look back at life at things I could see God steering me away, but I wanted to do it my way.

Hang in there Deerhunter . . .we're not in heaven yet!, we still have a ways to go . . . . .if your not struggling in some area, then you may forget what a need we have for our Lord. I don't believe that there is a person on this earth that is following Christ that doesn't have his own personal cross to bear. One of yours is in academics at this time, another person could have a physical challenge of somekind, and still another, a loss of loved ones, and still another absolute poverty . .etc, etc. Lean on the Lord , for He is able to carry you thru and point the way for you. God bless you man, you'll be in my prayers.

Have you thought about getting tested for a learning problem? Maybe it's something you could get help for?

I had a hard time in college at first... but it was largely due to pot smokin', drinkin' alcohol and skippin' class. If you are being straight with us, that does not seem to be the case here. (Are you partying... or skipping class?)

Do you have a hard time concentrating... I mean like a really hard time keeping your mind focused? When you read does your mind drift constantly all over the place. When you are in class do you feel like a caged animal? Do your moods swing alot.. I mean go through spells. For a while up and other times down?

If you have a hard time concentrating you may have Adult Attention Disorder... which I really believe is related to Bipolar. Mind races and can't stop to focus when manic.

Or it may be a simple learning problem.. or you are just not cut out for college. Like others have said.. you ought to see a counselor... College is awful expensive, too expensive to waste, and it is not for everyone.

How are you doing in math and physics?

Where are you failing?

deerhunter you have been given some great advice, pray about it all, if you are not getting guidance fast and pray. God has a plan for you, he may lead you to speak to a councelor at school who can point you in the right direction to get you help with your studies.

I noticed you mentioned you do poorly on test, how do you do on assignments? If you do well on assignments and poorly on test you may suffer from a similar problem to my wife. When there is no pressure to have the right answer (which is a test), she does very well, she is very intelligent, she can tell you everything there is to know on the subject and be able to perform all of the task in a knowledgeable way easily.

But the second she is told "This is a test and you have 1 hour to complete it" she forgets almost everything she has learned, it is like a panic disorder when it comes to test for her and could be for you. There is help for folks with this problem and if after praying and possibly fasting you are lead to seek help do it, if not then God will get you pointed in the right direction.

Deerhunter, hang in there. You should be very proud of yourself just being there. I know. I have very little college. Mostly certificate courses specifically for my job. I got very lucky and got a great job with the little education that I have, but I very often feel dismayed that I never even tried. Your major sounds extremely difficult. You started to sound like you were calling yourself dumb. Obviously you're not, just getting into college (not to mention being smart enough to go) means that you are far from dumb. God will not put anything in front of you that you can't handle. This means even your failures. Have faith, work hard, never give up. This is my life mantra. Make it yours. Good luck. Keep us posted on how you're doing. I don't know you, but that doesn't mean I don't care. I'm sure everyone else here would agree.
