Default MILK

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to
pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?You don't owe me anything, she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger
physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill.
The local doctors were baffled! They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to
him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, forshe was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words.....

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed:

"Thank You, God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands."

There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on
the waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today may
benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

I recieved this in an email from a friend, I am not sure if this really happened or not, but I can assure you that God blesses those who do good deeds for others without ever expecting anything in return.

Awesome Taz,
There is a Christian movie with a similiar plot. If I can find one on Ebay I'll get it for ya. It's called Treasures in the Snow. Also fellows if you dare trust me I would like for you to send me your mailing addresses in a PM so I can send you a Christmas card this year. I am still a stranger so if you are concerned and refuse I understand..

Love you all,
Chuck

I have a similar story and one that happened to one of my great uncles.

My great uncle Herman was a very wealthy doctor and he dedicated his life to treat very poor people in africa, he loved Africa so much he stayed must of his life and just occasionally he Visited us in Israel.

He had a big stomach problem where he had developed a hyatal Hernia which bothered him every time his stomach would empty out.
One day while he was driving in his Jeep, one of those attacks of hunger pain hit him, it was so severe the jeep driver pulled over to lay him in back of the truck, they had nothing that he could eat because he had given everything to the hungry kids at the last village they had being at. not even water.

The driver look hard for another village or settlement and he thought about turning back but he thought the gas was not going to be sufficient. Finally he saw a hut way in the distance, made of leaves and grass, so he went for it as he could see smoke from a fire.

When he got there there was a woman with a new born all by herself, he explained my uncles problem, she said all she had to eat was one plantain(Banana) she had bolied and was waiting for her husband so he could have half and she the other then they were going to wait for death as they had nothing else and the husband had gone hunting everyday and had shot nothing.

She looked at my uncle and saw his condition of pain and brought out the plantain and said "here have it all, we might as well die today than tomorrow".
My uncle took it and ate it and drank water and the pain passed, then he started looking around and saw the conditions this people lived in. He asked why they lived alone there instead of the village, she said they persecute us because we believe in Jesus " they had no beds ,they slept on the floor on palm leaves all they had was that one cooking utensil they cooked the plantain in.
They hadno sheets or clothes for the baby or anything at all. He hopped in the Jeep and took off like a rocket, the driver asked why he said imagine when that man gets home tonight and he finds I ate his food, he will probably kill that woman and himself and the baby.
He went 75 miles to the nearest large town and filled a pickup truck with stuff and food and beds and everything needed for the family, he made it back at 3 AM and woke the man who came out with an old rusty shotgun and eyes about the size of golf balls.

The man did not belief his eyes when he saw all that stuff, the woman had told him she ate the plantained so he did not harmed her.

From time to time my uncle would deliever more supplies and the man had now cattle because of the monies my uncle had supplied to him.

as the revolution started in angola my uncle was captured by the communist guerrillas and held tied and gag for a week and was set to be executted as a foreing spy, these were the charges against him although must people knew him as the doctor who had saved thousands of people, but the Russian advisors had say he was a foreing Israeli Spy and CIA.

They were waiting for the commander in that guerrilla village so he could give the execution order, when he arrived they brought him in front of the commander, who looked at him with golf ball eyes and said my brother Herman what are you doing here ? "He said I don't know my brother these men want to execute me", He looked at the russians and said ,to execute this God sent man you have to execute me first who has the B**** to do that? , one of the russian agents made a gesture and he found himself on the floor with 50 AK 47s pointing at his head. The Russians left very quickly from that village.
Herman left with the commander and his family amd my uncle brought him and his family to Israel, where they lived until things settled down in angola and he moved back.

When One Banana can save your life.

Great story about your Uncle Alex. To put it all in a nut shell, you reap what you sow, are in modern terms what goes around, comes around!
