What is a false teacher to you? Does it take someone like Jim Jones or Davis Koresh to be considered a false teacher or does anyone teaching anything except the truth classify as a false teachereven if that person believes it to be true? Someone that believes in Jesus, someone that claims to love God and then teaches something that is not true or not according to God's word is he or she a false teacher, even if that person causes someone to believe a lie and be lead astray, would not that person be a false teacher?

..here is myanswer to your question. I know where youare coming from Strut. And that is why I try and let love be the answer. Jesus said by this you will know I am the real deal. On here though you really can't tell very well because all we have are words. I hope when I visit you in November I can demonstrate Christ love in all I do.

Genuine love can not be counterfeited. The reason why many abhore it is because it can not happen in the flesh. Real Spirit filled love God can only come from knowing God. It has walked into the fiery furnace , slept with lions and does not resist evil. It is not rude and overcomes evil with good. Only love is stronger than death and covers a multitude of sins. Genuine love does not hold grudges and is slow to anger. It makes it's face like flint to do the will of God and remembers the poor and the widows.
Strut...a bad tree cannot bear forth good fruit. It can't happen. Ye shall know them by their fruit.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Strut..When folks scoff at love and belittle love flags should pop up all over the place. That is not normal. He told us all the commandments hang on these 2 things...to love God with all our heart mind soul and strenghth and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our aim should be to love God out of a pure conscience.

I come in contact with many "false teachers" by the standards you present. Theres so many of them that I have determined to speak my truth as meek as I can, but clearly. I realize that I can't control the world, or do much of anything on my own, but the Word of God is true and speaks for itself. Do you think that a false teacher can be as convinced of his truth as you are of yours?

Yeah I do believe that one can believe whole heartedly that he is preaching and teaching the truth, even Paul thought he was doing the will of God by persecuting the church, What matters though is that person teaching the real truth according to God's word. Does God's word teach that one must attend church to be saved, some say that you don't have to ever attend some say you do, if those that teach you can be saved without ever going to a church service is not preaching the truth and one is lead astray by their teaching will the teacher be considered a false teacher. God's word is truth, if we teach differently then I would think that we would be false teachers, whatever the subject may be, if God's word says one thing and we teach it in a different manner that causes one to be lost we may be in deep trouble come judgment cause we will be judged by his word. Thanks Strut, and I agree completly. Sadly theres so much of that, another reason we should stay rooted and grounded in the word. The world truley wants to lead us astray and it uses folk with perfectly good albeit misguided intentions. And God bless you.

False teachers exist in every denomination, when a pastor or teacher takes a verse and accomodates that verse to a different intent other than what the context of the verse is, that is a false teacher.
Something I see everyday on most TV preachers.
