This is definately my favorite time of the year. Bow season is just 3 weeks away. There's nothing like sitting up high in a tree with bow in hand and watching all God's little critters going about their day. The smell of the dew lifting from the autumn leaves and the warmth of the morning sun on my face makes me want to quit my job and hunt every day. Sitting in my stand gives me plenty of time to think about how good God has been to me. I'm so thankful that I have my health and a good wife and family. Also I'm thankful for these West Virginia mountains that protect us from all the ill effects of the hurricanes that people along the coast have to deal with. My thoughts and prayers go out to them during this hurricane season.
Also, while in my stand this fall, my thoughts will be going out to my friend Ben who is spending this hunting season in Iraq along with many others whom I'm sure would rather be here hunting. I took Ben hunting when he was 10 years old and when he writes he's constantly thanking me for introducing him to the outdoors but the truth is I probably enjoyed his success more than my own. With me as his guide, he got his first squirrel, rabbit and deer. I remember them all as well as my first.
Thank God for the Fall season and good friends to share it with. Happy Hunting everyone. Give thanks and share it with a friend.

Yes I agree,
Fall is my favorite time of the year.. Our bow season starts tomorrow and the warblers are migreating through as we speak. I'll be sitting high in an oak tree with my bow, binoculars and Bible tomorrow. Should be an awesome morning if I see anything or not.
Fall's my favorite time too. Bowhunting is my favorite pastime and our season started a week ago. It's been hot so I haven't seen much . . . yet. But I have spent a good part of that time praying and reading God's Word and meditating on it while I sit and appreciate all that He created.
