For the lasr few weeks i have been teaching in the book of Judges and these verses stood out to me in this chapter.. Judges 13:15-23 KJV.
"15 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
16 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
19 So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wonderously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
21 But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23 But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these."
In this scripture, we read that a mysterious visitor appeared to Manoah and his wife, who by the way are the parents of Samson.. when Manoah asked the visitor his name he didn't answer him directly but stepped into the flame and then Manoah knew that he had seen God in human form..how can we understand such a great God who knows everything, who created everything, who made man out of the dust of the ground? He who knows our every thought, and yes, hears every idle word we speak.many of the Old Testament saints knew and loved God and experienced his grace and love and forgivness even though they didn't fully understand him..And as Christians we too stand in awe before a majestic God..but we have a great advantage over the O.T saints because we see God revealed in Jesus.Amen..Jesus said, "He who has seen me has seen the Father.' and ddear friends when Jesus hung on the cross He showed us God's love and compassion and He died for us there..What a wonderful Saviour!!! Oh yes it is a mystery but isn't it wonderful that we can know the love of this incomprehensible able God..Truly Dear God , how great thou art..to understand God is impossible, to worship him is a must..
have a great week and please tell someone about Jesus
here is another great hymn, won't ya sing along with me and tell him how much ya love him today..God bless you all..
How Great Thou Art
Oh Lord my God when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
To take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim my God how great Thou art
Then sings my soul my savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul my savior God to Thee
How great Thou art how great Thou art.
