Default Do you trust another man's revelation?

I mean since the apostles. Someone (else)has fasted, prayed, asked for wisdom, read scripture, and comes away with a revelation. Do you believe it? Do you believe it only if it supports what you have already believed? Are revelations only personal?

Do you understand what I'm asking? I'm afraid it's not coming out correctly.

etothepii I will be honest and say I am not sure, there have been so many people who have claimed to have a revelation from God that have turned out to be false I can not honestly say I could put that much trust in man. I do beleive in personal revelation, but one example of a claimed revelation that really turned me off was a televangelist that claimed he had been told if he didn't raise a certain amount of money in a certain amount of time that he was going to be taken.

When Paul said that if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8.31), he really meant it, he experienced that power of God; and so, we should experience it too. When Isaiah stated, fear not, I'll help you (Isaiah 41.13), we should experience the same confidence. David said the same, whom shall I fear? (Psalm 27.1).
These are not direct "revelations" from God but experiences of God. There are also some other dogmatic definitions or "revealed" truths that can not be experienced; they are just statements. True revelations from God are revealed with the purpose of being experienced.

If it is a revelation that is found to be consistant with the teaching of the overall teaching of the scriptures, I would except it on that basis. If it is something along the lines of, ( watch the Gulf Coast, God has showed me great destruction to come there), the prophet has been watching too much weather channel.

If I know the person's life possibly; if it lines up with scriptures. Alot of times revelations are just another word for spiritual insites. I have gotten many spiritual insites. Most all of us have. I got one yesterday. I have gone back to the church that sent me to Israel. I attended a Bible study. Before when the pastor would ask the questions I would have all of the answers. This time around I won't do that .I answered 1 and although the others did not answer any I refused to open my mouth like a show off. That had offended many before. I felt proud of myself for obeyin gGod and shutting up. Also some conversation opened about trinity. I shut up. These folks are baby Christians mostly and the topic was on the Lord's prayer. I did not want to get the pastor side tracked. The insight ...always having the right answer isn't always right .
Phil.2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

First, the revelation would have to line up with the written Word of God in order for me to consider it. The revelator would have some bearing on my initial consideration. Also the Spirit of it witnessing to my Spirit would come into play.
Do I take much stock in others revelations? Not very often, hardly ever, but it do happen.
