God seals the prophecy with the authority of His name. The The Alpha and the Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, declare that God is everything from A to Z, thus in control of all histroy. Is. 44: 6 says, Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And His Redeemer, the Lord of host; "I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God." As the Almighty One, God's power is absolute.
I believe God and Jesus are one of the same, as stated in John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John birth name was Yochanan , best friend of Jesus (yeshua)
Yeshua The Son of God, borned Jewish, appears to Yochanan A Hebrew Boy with perhaps average Education and speaks to him in Greek ? and says Iam the Alpha and the Omega ?
Or Did he really say Iam The Aleph Andthe Tav, or Eiyeh Aleph ha Tav, Eiyeh is the name That God told Moses to use to identify him to pharaoh Eiyeh= I'AM.
What are your thought Rev. ?

Well Alex,
Being in the military...I know better than to carry on an intellectual conversation with a Lt. Colonel. I drove the Executive Officer for 14 months. Those officers are in a totally different school. I was only a fire team leader Sir.
Alex this is pure speculation on my part, I would think Christ when he speaks to someone, be it John or anyone else would speak in the language that is the language of the one being spoke to. Were those the "exact" words Christ spoke to John? I don't know.

Bro Alex, Did he say "I am the Alpha? or did he say, "I am Alpha"?
In the beggining, God. In the beggining was the Word. The Word was God. The Word was made flesh. I will go with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Before there was anything else, there was God. When, (and if there will ever be such a time) there is nothing else left, God will be. Jesus was, is, and always will be God. I don't know the exact words that John heard, but the message wasn't changed.
