Default Billy Graham, Jakes, etc

How do you guys feel about these big time preachers? I just don't agree with them myself. I don't trust them. They make alot of money. Some have mansions everywhere. Stay in the finest. I thought we were trying to be more like Jesus. This was probably one of the poorest people ever. I can't see Jesus coming here and massing huge amounts of wealth.

I know there is nothing wrong with a person doing well for himself if he gives what is owed to God and money doesn't steal his heart. Boy, am I having a hard time with that one, but as leaders of these massive groups, you would think they would set the example. I mean they are not the great ones, God is working thru them. If I am ever blessed to able to be a shining light to a mega church, I think I would try to live a very modest life as I can muster. If they tried to give me millions, I would tell the leadership, to give to the church. I pray I would.

How does some feel about this.

bc, i'm right there with you, i'm a little leary of some of them, as far as money goes there are several scriptures that tell Gods blessing towards man and money, the love of money is where the problem comes in, i'm reading "the pupose driven life" at this time, and i was plesantly surprised to find that the author Rick Warren is donating 90% of the income from the sale of the books, but i would think that God would have a problem with someone being extravagent...

btw money deals/management check out daveramsey.com, me and my wife have been following his advice and are debt free accept for our home and were workin on that, debt is a product of the devil.......

You have a good point there. Many of them use the Old Testament point of view. Alex. I was taught in college the next statement I plan to make /Is it true or not. I was taught t6ha in the Old Testament when a man was beign blessed of God it looked like this....
A. He was prosperous
B. He over came his enemies.
Many Christians pick and choose the best verses ou tof the 2 for their doctrines and statement of faiths.

I can say this about big time preachers... They don't make people come to their meeting. They draw a crowd because they are saying what people want to hear.
Some like Bro. T.D. Jakes does still preach fire and brimstone. I know personally that he is a giving, helping person, that I know from other ministries he has helped.
I don't agree with most of those preachers, I feel the way most of you do, but Jesus did attract the masses too.
I have always said, where there is a spark, you can start a fire, and brothers, thefire will spread!

You have to admit one broadcast from one of those big time preachers will reach more people than all of us combined in a thousand years.

Rev,
I use to go to some of the big name preachers when I was first a Christian. Some are very real and i would go today if they were around. One man I loved to hear was from Louisianna. I wonder if any of you have eevr heard of him. He is the only man that I truly seen operate in the gifts of the spirit. His name was Bobby Walker. I'm sure there are alot of other good ones out there. He is an evangelist. I think after the Jim Bakker and Swaggart they happened people kind of got suspicious of big named preachers.

No doubt Bro Chuck, but notice Godexposed them. Men like that drive more people away... I will always live by----- If you talk the talk, then you must walk the walk.
I am having issues right now in my life, and will not preach again until these items are cleaned up.

I understand that Rev. Satan will do whatever it takes to keep your mouth shut. Three years ago I was having a horrible time with my thought life. The Lord had been leading me to hold up large signs along the highways telling people to repent. One day ....full of sin and everything I made that sign. I was so humiliated I felt like a total naked fool out there. Super ebusy intersection. But...as soon as I put on the sign The joy of the Lord came over me. The lust stuff fled my mind and I talked ot many about Jesus as they would give me water and stuff. I did that for 3 years. Brother.. Get out of the boat. We are justified by faith. AS you do his will you will be freee from the guilt and condemnation. Don't let Satan close your mouth.

I agree Rev.-- Billy Graham has done more for the cause of Christ than any other evangelist..He preached the gospel everytime He stood behind the pulpit and hundreds of thousand people no doubt will be in Heaven because of his message..those close to him say when he goes to his hotel room hewould havesomeone go in first and check and make sure no one is in there..there has never been any bad press about him as far as i know..a great man of God that i respect and thank God for his many years of serving the Lord..
now TD Jakes, that is another subject..

yes there are a lot more charlatanson TV than there is good old gospel preachers..but if you will notice the galse ones don't last that long..
