Default Alex, Question for you....

Hey, I don't know alot about Messianic Jews. Could you point me toward a web-site or give some info about your faith? I am impressed that you were able to answer "YES" to the question that CharlieP posted in the "Gay" thread. That's a tough one. Thanks.
Trae
BTW, what tribe are you from?

My Last name is Peres Ben Hezron, if you go to Genesis chapter 38 and read the story of Judah you will see the Perez clan ( family) is the Royal Family of Judah, if you go the book of Ruth last Chapter you will see Jessee father of King David was a Perez, if you go to Matthew chapter 1 you will see that Jesus descends from the Perez Clan, therefore he is in tittled to sit on the throne of David.

So Iam from the tribe of Judah.

Wow! That's awesome! So would you say that most Jewish folks know or do not know which tribe they are from? And do you worship on Saturday and on Sunday?
Thanks,
Trae

Most Sephardic(spain) Jews know what tribe they belong to, because their name stayed intact after the diaspora in 70 AD, I can trace my family arriving in Spain in 85 AD and in 1492 they moved to Greece because of the Spanish catholic inquisition. , whic murderedone million plus jews in Europe specially spain and france.

The Jews from Europe Adopted last names which are of indigenous meanings and local families so for them it is hard to know.

But a break through in DNA studies can now pinpoint what area of the middle east one comes from and if you are Jewish and from the house of David and or from the House of AAron the priests.

My Grandmother (who is a Messianic Jew) knows what tribe she is from. Her mother is from the tribe of Levi. Before her mother's family began to believe in Yeshua as Messiah, they served in the synagogue in London as Cantors. Her father is from the tribe of Judah.

What Messianic Jews Believe about the Christ:

Statement on the Identity of Yeshua

[The following is adopted as a statement of shared convictions which is intended as an introduction for a further discussion of soteriology (the doctrine of salvation). It does not replace or substitute for any part of our doctrinal statement, which is the foundational statement of the UMJC.]
The Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations holds that the One GOD, the GOD of creation, the GOD of Israel, the GOD of our ancestors, of Whom our tradition speaks, reveals Himself uniquely, definitively, and decisively in the life, death, resurrection, and return of Yeshua the Messiah.
Yeshua is the incarnation of the Divine WORD through Whom the world was made, and of the Divine GLORY through Whom GOD revealed Himself to Israel and acted in their midst. He is the living Torah, expressing perfectly in His example and teaching the Divine purpose for human life. Yeshua is completely human and completely divine.
As the risen Messiah and the heavenly Kohen Gadol (High Priest), Yeshua continues to mediate GOD's relationship to His people Israel, to those of the nations who have joined the greater commonwealth of Israel in Him, and to all creation. GOD's plan of salvation and blessing for Israel, the nations, and the entire cosmos is fulfilled only in and through Yeshua, by virtue of His atoning death and bodily resurrection, and GOD's gift of life to both Jews and Gentiles, in this world and in the world to come, is bestowed and appropriated only in and through Him.
Affirmed by the UMJC delegates, November 12, 2003.

leafriverlizzie, Iam so happy to hear that.

I must correct you though , there is no tribe of Levi. there is the family of Levites, which are sons of Aaron brother of moses.

It is a very privilidge family although God did not give them land, he sanctified them as the Holy priests unto himself, today that family carry either the last name levi, levy, levitz etc, or Cohen, the Cohens are the priests and are the ones who do the actual blood sacrifices.

a simple DNA test can determine if you are a cohen.

Shalom
