Personality and character ascribed to the Holy Spirit
"Thinks, speaks, makes decisions, loves, Compassionate, Grieves, Insulted, Intercedes" In order to prove the Trinity true, we need merely show that the Holy Spirit is a person. Because no one disputes that the Father and the Son are persons, we place all our focus on proving the personality of the Holy Spirit.
Character Qualities of the Holy Spirit
The Father
The Son
The Holy Spirit
Inspires Scripture, Speaks, has a mind, a will and makes management decisions directing others for divine purpose
Jer 3:15; 26:5; Mt 3:17; 10:17-20; Lk 22:42; 1 Thess 2:13; 2 Tim 3:16; Heb 1:1; 2 Pe 1:20-21
Questions: Does the Bible say that the Holy Spirit Intercedes like a lawyer to God? That He will dwell in the Christian? That He will teach the disciples all things? That He will bring to their rememberence things that Jesus said? That He would not come until Jesus left?
Please read:
Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."
John 14:16-17 "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you."
John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."
John 16:7 "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you."
Can the Holy Spirit be insulted? Outraged? Does He have feelings? Can He love?
Hebrews 10:29 "How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?"
Romans 15:30 "I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,"
The Obvious answer is YES!! And if the "oneness" view is correct then all these verses are wrong! You can't have it both ways. If the Holy spirit isn't an individual then He is just the voice of the Father. If that is the case then it is like our biceps talking for us!!! Does our bicep tell us when were have hurt it's feelings? Does our bicep tell us the desires of the folks that love us? NO!!!

It is important to note that Ido not defend anything but the concept of trinity as taught in the New Testament.I do not defend the developed Nicene concept of the trinity.

Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."[*]Isaiah 45:5"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me."[*]Isaiah 45:6"That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else."[*]Hosea 13:4"Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me."
[ul][/ul]Some of these verses testify that God is "one," others attest that there is nothing "beside" Him, one of them declares that nothing is "like" Him, and so on. None of the above verses include anything that describes that God is three in one. Jesus did not say that he was one of three, nor did God in His own words.
