So here's the question: Do you feel that an athiest who performs good works throughout life will go to heaven? How about those of other religions? (Obviously, this thread is directed toward Christians)
I feel the Bible makes it clear that no, they do not. We can't start judging who will and will not go to heaven. That's not up to us. But we are told who will and who will not go. Applying God's rules isn't judging, is it?
Matt.7:21
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matt. 11:28 [28]"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light".
One word, F-A-I-T-H.
By using the word, F-A-I-T-H the Bible has answered the question of what it takes for a person to go to heaven. We can also use that word to understand how a person can have God"™s forgiveness, heaven and eternal life. F-A-I-T-H can also mean, Forsaking All ITrust Him". By forsaking any other way to heaven and placing your faith in Jesus, you can have forgiveness and eternal life.

Live Life in such a way that those who do not know Christ will come to know Him because they know you
Except(without except)you believe that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.
That is scripture, not a personal view, but if I qoute that passage directly to person or group who believes something other that the bible, is that bashing? If a person from another religion ask for your imput on a public forum and you quote that passage as reference and declare that he is teaching a false doctrine and will be lost, is that bashing? Must I tell a lie and agree for the sake of unity to avoid bashing?
Bro Eto, if God said it let them accuse God. If One quotes a scripture, he is just God's mailman. It is the author of the mail, not the mailman, that should be called into question.Jesus call them liars, hyprocrites, thieves. Told them plainly that they were devils. That their fathers was the devil. Told them they would die in their sins. Was he a basher? If he had told them anything less, would he not have became a conpromiser with their evil deeds? I agree that a lot of so called bashing is just simply the result truth that cannot be excepted.

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, "œI am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
I'm sure that no Christian would say that "good works" are the plan of salvation for humanity. Faithful Obedience to God's plan is the only way of salvation.

Don't be sure. There are those who consider themselves Christians -- maybe new-agers, maybe lay-christians, maybe others-- who subscribe to this belief.
As an athiest I don't do "good works" as a way to get into anything. I do it to help out my community, and I guess for selfish reasons, it makes me feel good.

That's great Charlie. Doing good does give us a great feeling. It's that inward knowledge that there is a right and a wrong that helps us to choose to do a good thing, the right thing! Christians don't have a monoply on "good works" but I challenge anyone to figure out what group of people do "help" the very most in any circumstance. I'm sure "Christians" give, and help, and serve more than anyother group of people. Not because they are better, or anything like that, but they want to please their heavenly Father and serve their fellow man. Galatians 6:10 "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."
