Well, we finished our summer study on Humility (Humility A Journey to Holiness) by Andrew Murray at church. It was a complicated read, but definately had an effect on my day to day thinking.
My favorite quote was
Humility is the path to death, because in death it gives the highest proof of its perfection.
My pastor has this God given gift that is amazing. He is so smart and impressive and knows the word so well, but he can bring himself down to my level. I hugged him and told him thanks for all his help, and his reply was, "I didn't do anything, I am just one beggar telling the other where he found some food". Pride is my worst trait. It keeps me from being filled with humility. I fight it every day.
There is something I want to warn those who are very knowledgable in the Bible. If God has given you the gift to understand and know the Bible, then don't stand over new people or New Christians and tell the word being full of pride. If they ask your opinion, tell them what you can but fully clothed with all the humility you can muster. When I was lost, this was my biggest turn off. I have met so many knowledgable Pastors and Ministers where thier witness is so full of pride and self righteousness. I want to know the Bible. I want to study and understand what God is saying to me. But want to ask that if we all know each other when I reach a certain maturity in my studies, that will let me know if I have become self righteous. One day I will look back and thank you for bringing me back to being "one beggar telling the other where there is food".
Absolutely positivitly not. I have never met you, but have trusted you with very important issues. I hope every mature Christian would cloth themselves in Humility as you have. I mean you have taken time to talk to me. When I have something important I would like to discuss you take time for complete strangers. Your a good man Chuck.
One of the assistent pastors was telling us a story of this women he visits in the Hospitial . This women can't use her hands, legs or anything. All she can do is sit in the bed. But she is so filled with the joy of God, all she does is laugh and smile. So he told us, "we went in there to witness this lady and left being witness'd and humbled." It was a great moving story.
Big Country,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm human too beleive me and I wanted to make sure I didn't say something stupid. About 10 times I have wrote a reply to something on here ...only to have the Lord lead me to cancel it. After a couple of thousand post I'm starting to see some things would be better unsaid. I honestly love your simplicity and zeal as a new Christian .You bring back alot of great memorys.
God bless,
Brother Chuck
Brothers both of you have made some great staements which are worth repeating if you don't mind. (Not that you have a choice)

BC I am the same way, I feel that most people are that way and it is an ongoing battle, we all strive for perfection, but fail at it in the humility department when our pride leads us to beleive we are right and others who do not see things exactly like us are wrong.

BC that right there is as you said the biggest turn off to most people and sadly so many Christians when the Spirit is burning inside of them come across with a Holier than thou attitude.

BC there is nothing to add to this!

BC I have always been amazed at how great a testimony people like her have, here they are with what we as healthy individuals view as almost a curse of sorts glowing with the Spirit!

Chuck that is so true, I call it biting my tongue which in many cases I have found is as you say the best road traveled.

Thanks guys for the replies. I just started seeing the responsibility of mature Christians. Iam in the unique position to see what maybe a person who has this draw to Chirst but doesn't know where to use it or grow his faith.
Reason I ask for some to keep watch on me, is I have a nasty habit of getting arrogant when I start to get my hands around something. But I don't see it when I do it, only when I reflect on it later and look back with shame.
Brothers you all are doing fine from my standpoint, keep on keeping on.
Thanks Big Country,
We had our bi weekly weigh in. I lost 7 pounds. However Sparkle...another teacher won. She lost a whooping 10 pounds. Back on the bike I'll go.
