Default do you ever feel like hunting and fishing is wrong?

I do sometimes, especially about hunting. I mean yeah I respect my game and all, and I'm not out there just to kill, but ya know, I am having fun shooting ducks/geese/pheasants and what not. I am killing for the sport. Everyone is really. Does anyone else ever feel that?

hey broadhead, i have never had a problem with hunting or raiseing livestock and slaughtering them, to me to kill them w/o using them in an intended manner could be seen as wrong, like i know people that deer hunt and don't eat deer, i don't understand that.mostly all i do anymore is deer hunt, and 99/100 times i come home with an empty game bag, i've killed my share of animals, i look back and some things i did i don't feel nearly as good at this time as i did when i was younger, i have killed over 30 deer, all legal in one season, i was keeping the loins, and hind quarters, and giving away or throwing away the rest[&o]. now i find more joy in watching for the most part, me and my wife will sit on our back porch and watch deer all the time, we have 9 hummingbird feeders that get re-filled every couple of days,i really enjoy a young person getting into the outdoors, do i ever feel hunting or fishing is wrong, never, and if you do there is nothing wrong with re-evalueating(sp)your positon on it. theres more to enjoy out there when you look at it in a different light. i've been shooting my bow, i'll be checkin my rifle before long, and when the season rolls around, and that first deer shows, i may watch it, or i may take it, and if i'm blessed with this good fortune i will thank God, if i go home empty handed (git it m.t.hands) i'll thank him for another glorious day that i have enjoyed.
hope that helps you some

heres a pic of some of our pets from last year, as soon as i get the scanner back up i'll post some newer ones

Broadhead,

Yes ,I have thought they were both wrong before. When I was in Bible college I fished everyday. I noticed that some of the disciples left their nets to follow Jesus. I gave my tackle to a church to sell in their yard sale and quit for 2 years. Later on I started fishing again...in moderation. Last year I was hunting alot on Sundays and missing church. I stopped doing that as well. I believe if you honor God on Sundays, he will bless your Saturdays. especially in Florida where fire arm is almost 2 months long. So yes, anything we put before God can be an idol. I use to collect baseball cards. I remember skipping church once to go to a card show. I was very convicted as I shelled out 40 bucks for a rookie card and gve God a cheap offering. I ended up selling all mycards . If anything gets in front of God ..get rid of it.

The older I get, the more I think about killing an animal. Fishing I don't even
think about not doing it.

Ditto on Mac's post.

Also I don't kill what I am not going to eat, unless it is making a pest of it's self or it is a danger to me and mine such as a posionious snake in my yard.

Thanks

lord gave us dominion over the animals so we could raise, hunt, eat, and make as pets as we please. He laid out plenty of quail while moses was in the desert. Besides I don't think it would be much fun hunting a carrot.

I have a problem with the - "I only kill what I eat" statement alot of people use to justify hunting & fishing.

Carp is a rough fish - Game law says not to be returned to the water

I used to trap alot - but I never ate a fox

Rats & mice better watch out around my place

Snow geese are overpopulating their habitat - huge bag limits - and most people would admit they only strip the breast meat - and then try to make jerky or something because it really isn't very good to eat

Hunting to eat is a thin justification for hunting - the truth is most of us could buy meat a lot cheaper.

We shouldn't apoligze for hunting or fishing. Death is a part of life.

I never try to justify hunting . . . .why should I? If I want it . .I kill it and eat it. If it's a pest . .I get rid of it. I'm more and more getting turned off to all meat in general except for what I raise myself. Venison is one of the few meats I enjoy anymore. Cost wise tho it is quite a bit more than beef when you actually look at the dollars you put into it. I don't think I'm turning into a vegetarian, it's just that I want to see it on the hoof before I see it in my plate.
