Default Time for a Praise Report.

What is God doing in your life today?

Filling me with His joy and peace as I share the wonderful things of God with my Christian hunting friends. I feel self-control to overcome my eatting problem as well. I've been choosen to be on the County Advisory Committee so I will be in the county office all day tomorrow. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our salvation. I therefore will take my mind off my efforts and focus on Him the rest of the day.
LOVE YOU FOLKS,
CHuck

Brother Chuck nothing that you have said Brother, but right now God is helping me bite my tongue in a few instances! It is funny how the Spirit will on occasion move one to not say anything.

Is this something you've shared before? (If so, sorry for not knowing.)

I binge eat, especially late at night. I've worked out a weight loss plan, and for 5 weeks, I've not binged. I've also lost around 20 lbs!

In my case, I feel that many times in my life, I have been guilty of gluttony. Much more serious than just putting on pounds.

Jim,
Yes, I have shared this before. It is certainly gluttony when I eat and am not even hungry. After dinner is tough. I had a very healthy meal at dinner but I'm fighting a sandwich right now. I deal with frustration that way. I just got done tearing my shiner net on some rocks so I'm a little upset. Tht's the reason I'm talking to you to get away from the frig.I plan to fix the net later.

The Lord has beenmore than good to me and my wife for the last 38yrs.
We live for the Lord firstand then forHumanity. We believe in Live and
let Live.
We had a wonderful summer vacation with family and Christianfriends in
many states. We fellowship with many Church friends also.

That's my testimony, the Lord first before any thing else!

Chuck, I'll pray for you, and I'll let you know what is working for me right now. I'm keeping a food diary on an Excel spreadsheet. I use food labels and/or the internet to keep track of the number of calories I'm taking in (using the spreadsheet to keep a total). Right now, for the purposes of weight loss, I'm keeping calories around 1500-1700 per day. Once I reach my ideal weight, I'll shift to 2000 per day, give or take.

Also, for the purposes of weight loss, I'm recording calories burned each day. I enter in my basal metabolic rate, plus the exercise I do each day. As long as that number is higher than the caloric intake number, I'm loosing weight!!

Anyway, the food diary has helped me out a lot, and so has having a daily goal for calories. When I reach 1500, I slow down or stop eating. I definately stop when I go over 1700. Some days, I have trouble reaching 1500. After dinner tonight, I was only at 1225, so I had to snack. I just ate low fat pringles and a granola bar, and in a few minutes, I'm eating an apple so that I can get over 1500.

Psychologically, seeing the food written down, and the calories add up has bolstered my week self-control. I'm not saying that will work for everybody -- who can come up with such a thing? But it may be worth a try.

A few other things: Calorie counting was big in the late 70' and early 80's, but it lost favor because of the difficulty of keeping track. Technology has really eliminated this problem. Also, never eat less than 1500 calories, if you can help it. If you fast, get back to a 2000 calorie diet the next day. Repeated sub-1500 calorie days will cause the body to go into starvation mode, which will mess up your metabolism, and increase your hunger later on.

Also, I exercise after 9:00 at night, shower, brush my teath, and go to bed. That has made it impossible to do my late night binging!

Thanks Jim,
I'm doing something similiar. I follow the Weight Watcher diet. I'm allowed 30 points per day which is not much. It is pretty much a high fiber diet. I lost 70 in 2003. Got depresed and put it all back on. I'm doing that again. I'm doing good. Knowing my brother is not the problem it is obedience. IF I don't eat anymore today I've done great. However.... That is easier to say than do. thanks for the prayers. I'm a big believer in prayer and I will pray for you as well daily.
God bless you Jim,
Chuck
The journal is a great idea. I keep one too.
