Default Are you ready for the deer season.

On a happy note.On a scale 1-10 how is the place that you plan to hunt this year. I know this is a religious site so I will say have you been blessed with a great place to hunt deer. If so..rejoice.

Last year on a scale one to ten, mine was a 2.
This year I thank God for a 10 place.

Psalm37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Brother Chuck

In Utah for bucks- 2
In Texas for does-1224544!!! It was a blast!

This year Utah for does-10!
This year Utah for bucks-Don't care, didn't get a buck tag![:@]

But I am lucky to live a such a beautiful place and have access to some of the most majestic mountains in the world, and for that I thank God.

Sounds awesome friend. Thanks for sharing. Yes...I agree. Being a birder I get a double blessing. I alwasys score because I see birds. Fall is prime time for migratory birds. those little wood warblers are God's little gifts. I'm going to a new location this year and can't wait.
Love ya,
Chuck

I don't know what my place looks like this year. Will see in two more weeks, we are taking the camper and 4 wheeler and set up the Blinds.... If its a zero, it's better than sitting at home watching all my friends go hunting...
Chuck I like birds too, mostly Turkey. I like em fried or baked.Just joking. It is awesome seeing Gods creation while waiting for the big one. Heck, I get choked up seeing His awesome sunrise.

Well I have two places that I care to hunt. One in the Swamp on the Leaf River. My available hunting ground there was reduced 50% last yr but I still managed to take four . .not worth mounting bucks.
This yr, is looking about the same in the swamp, but due to a real busy summer I havn't put time into food plots and feed as I should have. I'd have to rate the place a 7 overall.
I have a small holding of land and have a couple of stands on it. Adjacent landowners clearcut last yr and kept a lot of activity going on my landlines all winter and totaly messed up deer movement during the day on my place. This yr I'm hoping that the neighbors are thru ravaging and replanting their land and will let things settle a bit. I have killed my nicest bucks on my own property . . .the hills here have always had fewer but larger bucks than in the swamp. I've seen a little sign and am predicting that without further comotion across the fences I will rate about a 3 here this yr.

Yes ..my last 3 years have been like that. Like hunting for a needle in a haystack. It caused me to...
1. Learn and study the satellite maps.
2. Read all the imfo I could get my hands on.
3. Trust God more.
4. Talk to all the successful hunters.
5. Scout ,scout and scout
6 .2 out of those 3 years I scored and I mean by the grace of God. Another one of those unbelieveable miracles.
7. And you are right ,I worked on appreciating God's creation down to the smallest flower. In my hunting pack I carry flower identifying books as well as bird guides.

God bless you in Texas this year.
Chuck

I'm big time ready for bow season Oct 1. I race from April to Sept. and buy the end of season I'm ready to get in my stands and enjoy the slow pace of the woods. Here in God's country Kansas alot of book bucks are roaming around and a smart paitent hunter can capitalize. Hope all you good people have a great deer season. Peace

Default RE: Are you ready for the deer season.

I hope and pray to be ready, durring our last generator over-haul I over-used my right elbow and it has not healed yet.

I have two 8 points grazing our front yard, one a nice tall racked 8 point, one a really good wide racked 8 point.

Mrs-Pirk very much wants me to shoot one, we are out of deer roasts. I keep telling her it isn't deer season yet.
I noticed she has taken the window screen off the window, I think she has done this just in case I decide to shoot one of them with a gun.

We also have a medium sized 6 point, a nice four point and a small four point along with two spikes and two doe'sin the yard a lot of the time.

I have been working very hard on getting my food plot ready so that the deer will stay. If I ever get my USB port working I will post some pictures of what I am doing. the food plot is about 80 yards by 60 yards.

So no I am not ready but I am doing my best.

A bonus, Mrs-Pirks simplerecipe for a GREAT deer roast.

1/4 cup(for small deer roast) to 1/3 cup(for large deer roast)
Tone's Canadian Steak Seasoning.
1 packet of Lipton's onion soup mix.
1 can of beer (any kind).

Place in a crock-pot and cover with water (before bed time).
Set on high and let it cook that way over night.
Set on low in the morning, leave it till near supper time, then let cool and slice.
Pour the remains of the liquid over the cooling sliced roast.

I can tell you all... it is GREAT!!!!!

I have tried the above with substiute items...it doesn't work, use the stuff mentioned (all of them).

The recipe works GREAT with deer, GOOD with beef, poorly with pork, not at all with Elk.

Thanks
Mr-Pirk

Thanks for the recipe Mr. Pirk. My wife collects cook books as a hobby. She is a superb cook. We both share the cooking resposibilities and try to out do each other with healthy dinners. According to Weight Watchers, venison has the same fat count as wild salmon ,hardly any at all.
Since we both work ,Mon.throughFri. are mostly crook pot meals. We will give it a try.
Chuck
PS On a scale between 1-10 I would consider your place a 10. I'm happy for ya.
