Default In, Upon, and Filled

Some things were mentioned in the Holy Ghost thread that brought questions to my mind after looking up scriptures on the Holy Ghost. What are your opinions on this? Is there a difference between having the Holy Spirit in you, upon you, or being filled?

Luke 2:25-35 -Simeon was obviously filled with the Spirit: "the Holy Ghost was upon him", certain things were "revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost", and "he came by the Spirit into the temple".

I believe if you are filled with the Holy Ghost, it will be upon you.

Well, One thing for certain . . .I don't believe we are filled with the Holy Ghost until we recieve the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, as per the many scripture describing this. I do believe that when a person is saved that they recieve a portion and that they are influenced by the Holy Spirit.

Sis.Lizzie, I believe if a person repents and tells the Lord that he accepts Him
as his One and only Saviour, he is saved. Like you said, untill the person confirms
it thru Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, they will not recieve orbe filled
with the Holy Ghost. Then and only then, will it be Upon You.

Edit: Had Bro.Mac instead of Sis.Lizzie

Liz,
I had to post this so I wouln't forget the question. getting old.

Some things were mentioned in the Holy Ghost thread that brought questions to my mind after looking up scriptures on the Holy Ghost. What are your opinions on this? Is there a difference between having the Holy Spirit in you, upon you, or being filled?

That my sister in Christ ,is a darn good question. And one more thing....I believe their are different measures. In 76 I was baptized in the Holy Ghost . Why was that feeling like a 1000 volts of super natural electricity. I feel no electric now. Fact..I have never felt that ever again. In all honestly Liz I must say that truly was the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Also I have felt a strong sense of His love and warmth many times ;an anointing. But what is that still small voice we hear. The one that says give that fellow a hundred dollars. He needs it more than you. I believe that is our sanctified comscience. His Word is also spirit. John 6:63My Liz, in honesty...I'm stumped. I don't know how to label it but it sure feels good when He comes over ya. And he is in all of my thoughts. Tough question.

yes there is a difference..in the old test. the Holy Spirit came upon many people but never endwelled or was inany of them..you receive the Holy Spirit when you are saved..the only exception was John The Baptist..the book of Ephesians explains about the filling of the Holy Spirit..

Bro. Chuck, on the other thread you specifically noted a difference between "upon" and "in". From the explanation you gave on this thread, post number 5, what applies to Elisabeth when you said that all things are possible?

I am a very organized, categorical type person. Can anybody answer in a 1,2,3 manner?
Example:
1) In = ..........
2) Upon = ............
3)Filled = ........

Thanks!

Liz,
I said that in reference to when something isn't consistant with scripture and I can't figure it out I must say "All things are possible with God." Meaning before I ws taught as Motor...that in the Old Testament folks were over shadowed with the Holy Spirit and in the New Testament they are filled. But I have to be honest ..I hav ebeen challenged alot on this forum to prove those things I had been taught and when I saw the spirit was in Elizabeth I erealized maybe my teaching was wrong. Many folks like to have an answer for every Bible question. On this one sister..I just have to say if He wanted to fill Elizabeth he could of. I don't think everything in the Bible is tha tblack and white.
