I'm not real fond of it... I don't think God planted secret number codes in the Bible... A local radio show talks about these codes a lot though, and the mathematician in me finds the discussion a little interesting though. Does anyone here know much about this subject?
I've heard a little of it some time ago. It seemed kind of interesting . .but apparently not enough for me to really focus on it. Unlike yourslf . . .counting sheep for me gets confusing . . .maybe that explains my failure to pursue the subject.

The great mysteries of life are quite elusive. We do not have the "hard facts" needed to feel sure that our theories about the mysteries are true. Sometimes we feel sure, but convincing others is not so easy. Alas, they want "facts," and we cannot produce them. Well, times are changing.
This is the start of a series of articles that will present many "facts" concerning some major mysteries of our world. These "facts" will show evidence that -
[blockquote] The ancient sites around the world are very precisely positioned on a global coordinate system in relation to the position of the Great Pyramid at Giza. The positions of the sites are given in the geometry of their construction. A very ancient system of numbers was used in the system, which we will call "Gematria." "Gematrian" numbers are found in ancient myths and religions, including the Bible. Gematrian numbers were used in systems of weights and measures by ancient peoples, including the Greeks, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Babylonians and the Romans. The ancient Mayans used Gematrian numbers in their very accurate timekeeping. The Code system uses mathematical constants, such as pi and the radian. The system also uses conventions that are still in use, such as the 360 degree circle, 60 minute degree, 60 second minute, the base-ten numbering system, the 12-inch foot, and the 5280-foot mile. The Nazca Line ground markings "locate themselves" on The Code Matrix system. Crop circle formations suggest the same ancient numbers by way of their positions and measurements.
The very ancient "Monuments on Mars," including "The Face on Mars," were positioned in exact locations, just as the ancient sites on Earth.

That's interesting (wierd) stuff, but I'm talking about how the characters in the Hebrew alphabet also have numerical values, and each word can be thought of as a sum. Number patterns emerge. Arranging scriptures in 2 dimensional arrays form crossword puzzle-like intersections of words that make patterns, etc.
One author who was being discussed on the radio has a pattern that when applied throughout the OT, spells out "His name is Yeshua" in something like 60 or 70 different instances (or at least, that's the claim).
" The Lamb", as referring to Christ, occurs 28 times (4x7)
In the book of Revelation:
a) "Jesus" occurs 14 times (2x7), 7 times alone and 7 times with the word "Christ"
b)"Spirit" occurs 14 times (2x7)
c)"Lord" occurs 21 times (3x7)
"His mercy endureth forever" occurs 42 times (6x7) in the Old Testament
"Hallelujah" occurs 28 times (4x7)
You know Eto, when trying to open a safe combination as a Safeman when
the combination is lost:The magic number is "7" and there are 1,000,000,000
possible combinations on a 3 numbersafe combination.

Swede, I don't think there is a point. The key to numerology is that it poeple find what they want to find. The see coincidences aand think it a pattern. They make up formulas or rules, and when those rules fail to yield the desired result, they come up with convenient exceptions to those rules. Numerology is either accidental, subconscious projections onto the Bible, or whatever else it may be.
Secular numerologists have done a lot to find number patterns in the 9/11 attacks. I don't have specifics right now, but I'd be suprised if you hadn't heard some of them.
It pains me to think that some Christians feel they need to resort to numerology to prove the Bible, or anything else.
But like I saide, some of the things they come up with are at least a little curious, if not interesting.
The folks over in Romania are pretty convinced of the Devinci Code. The Orthadox priests have alot of power over there, and they actually get paid to tell people the "future" by useing this stuff!!! I see it as a way to look past the truth and find what you want, also! God told us that faith comes by hearing the word, not counting them!!!!
