Do you believe in every word of the New Testament, and the Old Testament?
I really have a confusion that I am sure will come up in your answers.

I am here, but I have been gone all day. My purpose in this post was to see how you would justify ignoring countless verses in the OT and the NT regarding the Church of Jesus Christ and apostles and prophets. Most specifically prophets. As how many prophets do you recognize since Christ? and yet they talk about prophets just prior to the second coming, as well as His church is specifically organized as follows "prophetsand apostles with Christ Himself as the chief cornerstone".
That is the purpose in this post, so I might see where you guys are coming from in a sense.

Judyboi; Since we are talking about the bible and not other books, where do you stand on your question? How much of the bible do you believe? Joseph Smith started with nothing but the bible, was it truth when it was all that he had? If so, when did it cease to be truth? When did the truth of God become a lie? Just so you don't lump everyone who isn't Mormon together and say "this is what the rest of you believe", I am a bible believer. I know men that I believe to be an apostle, (the bible didn't say that there would never be more than the 12). I know men who are prophets. I know men who are pastors, and evangelists, and teachers. I also know some who are simply called to be saints.
Since we are questioning the believing the bible, would it be fair to ask where you stand on the Book of Morman? I read the Book of Morman, every verse, and I recall it teaching that one was to repent, one was to be baptized, and then you would speak in tongues. Is that not from the Book of Mormon? Now the question? When did you speak in tongues??? Are you a true believer in the Book of Mormon?
Judy Boi I beleive the Bible, both old testament and the new testament contains the word of God.
I also beleive the Bible contains man's thoughts and ideas, some concerning man's impression of God and God's will, as well as man's assumptions as to how man should be.
An overt example of the latter is found in Paul's writtings where he states that a "direction" is from him and Not neccessarly from God.
Paul states that it is better for man not to marry if he is going to bestarting churches. Paul is laboring under the assumption that before the time Jesus returns is very near (less than a 100 years).
Paul's instructions for man goes against the example that God has set for mankind, God provided Eve as a helper for Adam.
Had Paul known that atleast 2000 years would pass before Jesus' return I don't get the impression he would have offered the same instructions.
Thanks
Mr-Pirk

I agree that there are more than just twelve apostles. I believe in present prophets. I believe that there will be prophets till the end of time.

I believe that every verse of the Book of Mormon, BTW it is MormOn not MormAn sorry just a pet peeve, to be true. The speaking in tongues I believe to be in two main ways. There are those to whom it is a gift from God that learning new languages is not hard. I believe that this "ability" canbe received at any point when one is ready. In our Missionary Training Center, our missionaries learn new languages faster than any organization can teach them any where else in the world. This is evident by representatives from the FBI and CIA visiting our MTC in Provo to see whatour "method" is. Prayer and fasting is what they tell them!
In the other part that I believe it evident, I think that when you are completely converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you have the ability to have angels come down and converse with you. We believe that angels speak in a "gift of tongues" in that anyone no matter what language can understand them. Also there are many reports of Church leaders visiting remote African, South Pacific, and East Asian villages, no one knowing the language, and bearing a testimony to them in what they thought was english. Yet, those people understood exactly what was being said.
Just some food for thought there.

I am not quite sure what you are trying to say here, but this is what I am reading. You think that not everything in the Bible is truly inspired so much as teachings that those men, such as Paul, felt was right. Is that what you are saying?
