Default Public Schools ?

I am not trying to start a flame war, so please do not interpret it as such. I just want your honest opinions and why you feel the way you do.

How do you feel about prayer in schools? Before football games? Do you feel prayer has been taken out of public schools completely?

Do you feel any need for separation of church and state? What about teaching Evolution? Intelligent design? Other theories?

How do you feel about private schools or home-schooling as substitute for public schools?

Do you feel Christianity has been removed from public schools? If so, by whom?

Dearfriend,

I have taught in the public school system now going on 16 years. I would love to try and answer your questions

I am not trying to start a flame war, so please do not interpret it as such. I just want your honest opinions and why you feel the way you do.

How do you feel about prayer in schools? We pray before faculty meetings. I pray silently to myself alot. I lay hands on some students and pray from my heart...not out loud.

Before football games? Do you feel prayer has been taken out of public schools completely? Never. Our principal trys to only hire Christians. She preaches at a women's jail on Sunday mornings.

Do you feel any need for separation of church and state? No our country was found on Godly precepts. In God we trust. Right? What about teaching Evolution?I don't teach it. In 3rd grade we actually aer not required anyway. We teach 4 basic units. 1. Habitat/Plants 2. Earth Science/ Geology and Weather 3. Motion and Force &Matter 4. Astrology. Intelligent design? Not covered.Other theories? zero

How do you feel about private schools or home-schooling as substitute for public schools? My wife Homeschooled our 2 boys. We understand the scriptures of bringing up our children in the Lord. Some are doing a fine job some are not. Each state makes the child take a National Standardized test yearly to see if the children are learning. Ours started college in the 10th grade. Their scores were literally off the page.

Do you feel Christianity has been removed from public schools? No.t really. Godly teachers find away. You can't hide the love of God. That is impossible. If so, by whom? Well in other classes yes. Parents whose children aer Christians usually request they be put in my class or my wifes.

When I pull up every morning it seems I have a fresh annointing to teach. God puts a smile on my face 1.4 mile wide. I love the kids and they love me.
God bless,
Brother Chuck

I believe its great! I went to public schoolfrom 1990 to 2004 (wellI went to private schoolfor 8th grade)at my high school we would pray before we ate, we would pray before school at the flag pole, We had FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)and we prayed/pray before every sport event. On Sep. 11th we all went to the Gym togetherand prayed for those people.

Do you feel any need for separation of church and state? What about teaching Evolution? Intelligent design? Other theories?
In my school I never failed a test on evolution, never took one although they were given. My teachers were understanding when me and my friends would not have anything to do with evolution. Did we learn it? Yes, he would teach us from a stand point of "you need to know where these crazy people stand".

How do you feel about private schools or home-schooling as substitute for public schools?
I have been to both, I think my public school was more private than the real private one. The public school included the Bible and God more than the private baptist school.

Do you feel Christianity has been removed from public schools? If so, by whom? Not all of em, At my school every teacher at least believes in God, they my not all go to a church but they are God fearing people. All the ones that it has been removed from has been removedby the Democrats!

I can't recall ever praying in school or it even being discussed but that's not to say it didn't happen, I just can't recall it... I know we were let out for confirmation classes though and even had a short day on those days so religion definately wasn't frowned upon.

My brother is a 3rd grade teacher in a public school and it sounds like much has changed. It must be referred to as "Holiday Break" and not Christmas break anymore. Easter is also 100% about the Bunny now and not the resurrection.

Tex,half ofmy nieces and nephews are home schooled and the others
go to a Baptist school. I have 18 of them.

Praying at games, I don't know, as long astheNational Anthemto our
countries Flag, I'm happy. I know sometimes they say prayer before an
auto race and untill now no one has complained.

If school's can teach Evolution, why can't Creation be taught? Why should
they pray in school's if they are taught to believe againstwhat the Bible
teaches them, kind of an oxymoron reasoning.

Separation of state and church, YES!

How do you feel about prayer in schools? Not a fan of it -I do not thinkit should bemandated - but have no problem with others praying silently.

Before football games? No - not a public prayer - The National Anthem is OK though.
Do you feel prayer has been taken out of public schools completely? No

Do you feel any need for separation of church and state?Absolutely - What kind of a country would we have if the government had a say in our religious choices?

What about teaching Evolution?OK Taught as a thoery - not as fact.
Intelligent design? No - should not be taught at all.
Other theories? Basic religious veiwpoints - Judaism, Muslim, Christianity, and maybe Eastern religions - Kids should know that other religions abound!

How do you feel about private schools or home-schooling as substitute for public schools? Maybe could be good thing - I think many home-schooled kids are socially lacking - especially early on. Some parents loos track of the fact the their kids will have to function in a world of mostly Public Schooled kids!

Do you feel Christianity has been removed from public schools?Yes If so, by whom? By us - we did it - Even many who are devout Christians understand that America is a country with roots in Religious Freedoms - its part of what makes us a great country.

Northern Texan, I too am from Texas. I have seen our school system (In Texas) go to the far left. As you know schools in Texas are not allowed to pray before games, and any kind of prayer is not allowed. We took our youngest child out in the fifth grade to home school because of the violence and the liberal attitude we have taken in this Republican State. He is now twenty two and doing great! We still have some good teachers like Bro. Chuck, but they are far and few between.
I heard of a first grader getting expelled because she prayed before lunch.... Some thing is wrong with that picture! Especially whenthe guards have towear white gloves to bring the koran to the inmates in Gitmo, and allow them to pray five times a day... Something is seriously wrong!!!

moose i don't know what you got against the Baptist but you are way out of line with your absurd accusations..most schoolsthat i know of teach a bible class and have prayer every morning before the start of school..i personally have preached chapel services for years and young man i preached the gospel..you need to get your facts straight before you post.

And we are asking about prayer in schools?

>>A MESSAGE FROM AN APPALLED OBSERVER:

>>

>>Today I went to visit the new World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

>>I got an unexpected history lesson. Because I'm a baby boomer, I was

>>one of the youngest in the crowd. Most were the age of my parents,

>>veterans of "the greatest war," with their families. It was a

>>beautiful day, and people were smiling and happy to be there.

>>Hundreds of us milled around the memorial, reading the inspiring words

>>of Eisenhower and Truman that are engraved there.

>>

>>On the Pacific side of the memorial, a group of us gathered to read

>>the words President Roosevelt used to announce the attack on Pearl
Harbor:

>>

>>Yesterday, December 7, 1941-- a date which will live in infamy--the

>>United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked. One

>>elderly woman read the words aloud: With confidence in our armed

>>forces, with the abounding determination of our people, we will gain

>>the inevitable triumph.

>>

>>But as she read, she was suddenly turned angry. "Wait a minute," she

>>said, "they left out the end of the quote. They left out the most

>>important part. Roosevelt ended the message with "so help us God.'"

>>

>>Her husband said, "You are probably right. We're not supposed to say

>>things like that now."

>>

>>"I know I'm right," she insisted. "I remember the speech." The two

>>looked dismayed, shook their heads sadly and walked away.

>>Listening to their conversation, I thought to myself, "Well, it has

>>been over 50 years. She's probably forgotten."

>>

>>But she had not forgotten. She was right. I went home and pulled out

>>the book my book club is reading ---"Flags of Our Fathers" by James

>>Bradley. It's all about the battle at Iwo Jima.

>>I haven't gotten too far in the book. It's tough to read because it's

>>a graphic description of the WWII battles in the Pacific. But right

>>there it was on page 58. Roosevelt's speech to the nation ends in "so

>>help us God."

>>

>>The people who edited out that part of the speech when they engraved

>>it on the memorial could have fooled me. I was born after the war.

>>But they couldn't fool the people who were there. Roosevelt's words

>>are engraved on their hearts.

>>

>>Now I ask: "WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE WORDS OF

>>HISTORY?????????"

>>

>>Send this around to your friends. People need to know before everyone

>>forgets. People today are trying to change the history of America by

>>leaving God out of it, but the truth is, God has been a part of this

>>nation, since the beginning. He still wants to be...and He always

>>will be!

>>

>>If you agree, pass this on. If not, MAY GOD BLESS YOU

Good Bro. Reb. We just keep turning our back on God. But there will come a time when this great country will wonder WHAT HAPPEND? By then it will be too late, and I hope we are all Heaven bound, and God can then loose His wrath on those deserving souls.
God bless us....
