I visisted one once. I was offended when they served communion. Unless you are a member you are not allowed to participate in communion.

There more than one division of the Lutheran Church.
Here's another to look at, Missouri Synod.

Chuck7,
My simplistic understanding, others please correct me
if I'm off base about the reasoning (as opposed to your
disagreement. Discussion of that is a given

)
I've known others to be offended and it is hard to accept
I suppose. The belief that the communion sacrement should
be taken onlyby people who are spiritually prepared is hard to
swallow (no pun intended). Usually an elder will ask some simple
questionsattempting to ensure thatwhatis seen as
very powerful is taken with appropriate seriousness and understanding of its
purpose. To distribute otherwise is seen as irresponsible,
possibly to the detriment ofsomeone who is'nt prepared.
Chuck, don't take this as me saying you were'nt or are'nt
good enough or ready for this sacrement. This is my understanding
of this situation.
As for a Baptist getting along with a Lutheran, well that's
question for the ages. There are some physical aspects of
each that might cause problems if either are inclined. I grew
up in a Lutheran church. One minor (to me) thing I noticed
was the alcohol issue. As this relates to communion, real wine
is used. Maby not real good wine, but real wine.Along with
that, having a beer or three is not particularly frowned on.
Don't take this wrong, drunkeness (sp?) is BAD. I've been
led to believe drinking alcohol is really frowned on in the
Baptist Church, which is why most Baptist only drink at home
(I'M KIDDING, PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME!). Anyway, I would
suggest you get to know this girl and the two of you can talk
about what YOU believe and or where you want to go from
here. I would nevertry to encourage either of you to leave your
church, a common ground can often be found.
