If you all are like me, then there are times you are wanting to get a point across and you have some trouble figuring out how best to approach it.
I have spent some time pondering how to make a certain point. This subject matter was discussed on this forum recently to a great degree. It has now been brought up again onsome ofthis weeksthreads.
I had an understanding I wanted to relate while the past thread was current but I could'nt think of the proper manner to do.
Since the same subject matter has came up again and I think I may have figured out a way to get my understanding across now. I thought I might that a stab at explaining it.
This is the question.... To Whom do you pray??
I am looking at it in this from this prospective.
When you are sitting at your dinner table for supper and you say your prayer of thanks what words do you use?
Do you offer thanks to God in his son's name? ..or..
Do you simply offer thanks to Jesus in Jesus's name?
When you ask God for a special blessing such as watching over someone who has asked for prayers on this forum.
Do you pray to God in his Son's name? An example of might be... Lord I ask you to watch over Taz and his family while they are dealing with the heart-break they are dealing with. Lord I ask this of you in your Son's name Jesus Christ Amen...
.....OR......
Do you make the same prayer in this fashion.... My Lord Jesus I ask that you watch over Taz and his family while they are dealing with the heart-break they are feeling. My Lord Jesus I thank you Amen.
This will be part 1 of this subject matter.
I will give folks a chance to ponder the subject and offer some in-put before I post part 2.
Thanks
Mr-Pirk

[38] But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Jesus himself addressed this question when He used what we refer to as the Lord's prayer. Actually, He was giving a model prayer--an example prayer---as He taught His disciples how to go about the practice of prayer:
Matthew 6:5-13
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [6] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. [7] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [8] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. [9] After this manner therefore pray ye:Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. [11] Give us this day our daily bread. [12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. [13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Luke 11:1-4
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. [2] And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. [3] Give us day by day our daily bread. [4] And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Jesus prayed to our heavenly father. I feel we should to but always in Jesus name. Because through our belief in Jesus and his making intersession for us before the father our prayers can be heard.

I start prayer with "Heavenly Father" and close with "In Jesus name I/we Pray, Amen"
BTW thanks for the prayer, not sure if I shared this or not, but we received a call from Jimmy a couple of days ago, he is in Oregon now, he said he was having lots of fun playing with his cousins (step-nieces & nephews, it is kind of hard to picture yourself as an uncle at the age of 6). We are praying that his parents get their act striaght or that Jimmy's step-sister take him in, it would be better for him to be with family then winding up in foster care.
