Default The Samaritan Cult

Dear fellow believers in Christ,
Just a few weeks ago we studied about a women who belonged to a cult or false religion of her day. Yes the Samaritans worshipped a few different gods. However ; with a short chat with her ...here life was changed. He never came against her religious worship. He dealt with her sin and then shared with her a drink of living water.

In a parable Jesus used a man of a false religion to demonstrate the importance of love. He used the 'Good Samaritan ' as the example. Did He condone their cultish practices ..no. But he said " Go and do likewise." Jesus really was about love. There is not ONE of us worthy enough to ever pick up stones. We all sin and come short of the glory of God. I believe Jesus was very gracious to all. Not once did He speak an unkind word about the Samaritans which were a false religion.

Jesus always did things out of love. It was love when He cleared the temple of the money changers. I don't feel that he was setting a bad example when He called the Pharisees vipers and serpents . . .I'm sure He loved them too. After all the money changers and Pharisees needed redemption as well.

Bro.Chuck,

1John 4:7,8
[7] Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
[8] He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

One of my favorite verses brother Rebel. When we expose our students to character words. We write about 8 statements explaining to the 3rd graders what that word looks like in action today.
What does love look like in your life gentlemen.?
I don't mind going first. Remember. Write in a way that a 3rd grader might understand. Here are my 8
1. Very slow to speak, waiting for God when answering others.
2. Love does kind deeds to others not only your friends.
3. Love is patient with others.
4. Love finds a way to resolve conflicts, does a lot of forgiving.
5. Love stays in tune with God at all times...makes friends easily.
6. Through those friendships , love shares the Truth of Savlvation. This wisdom is full of fruits and is without hypocrisy.
7. He is coming back for those who love Him. Love honors God and is faithful to worship Him in church .
8. Love like Rebel said, " Is the characteristics of all who are born of God.

Reb,
While I was outside greasing my boat trailor bearings the Lord put you on my heart. I remember all of the outreaches of your church. I must add a #9 Love remembers the poor. When I go through life with all of my material wealth and see a handicapped person or poor person my hearts goes straight for them. I was once very poor and understand that life. Thanks for sharing about the many outreaches. I try to be a channel of blessing as well. It's a real joy.

Bro. Chuck, I'm not going to be posting 8 ways to love in a way that third graders would understand because, after all, we are not third graders on this forum. We are adults. There is one thing I would like to comment on though.
As I have spent time reading these posts, I have seen many different attitudes come through, spoken and unspoken. Some people use words to cloak what is really going on in their minds. Some people don't have to cloak anything because you can tell right off what type of spirit they have in their posts.
What I am trying to get at is this:
Pro 27:2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
1 Cor. 13:4 says "love does not boast".
In my opinion, a person should not have to go around saying, "Look at me, I am being a loving person," or "Notice me, I am refraining from doing this or that because I am a loving person," or "I am more loving than you are," or "I am loving and you are not."
I agree with Mr. Pirk, that out of everybody I have seen posting anything on this forum, the person that has shown the most love is gman. Not once has he pointed it out either. It just naturally comes through on his posts. He has enough backbone to stand up for what the word of God says but he says it in a very patient, nonoffensive way. Actions speak way louder than words.
I love my 4 sons (ages 15 through 20). And because I love them, if I see them straying from the truth, I will show them the right path. At their age I cannot force them to make the right choices but I can certainly exhort them to make the right choices. Exhorting them does not mean I don't love them. It means I love them enough to warn them. I love them enough to be an example for them to see.

Well said Sis. Liz!
God Bless.

I sometimes express myself in a way that get's on the wrong side of people,
but being on the Net is the only way for pepole to know how one is in real
life. One has to see, fellowship and associateto really know someone.
