In the 5:18 reference they appear to be two, a Father and a Son. Never the less the Jews won"™t hear this ; no to them He can't even be an equal.
10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? We have only read about a few miracles in John but remember what John wrote in John 21: 23And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? This is quoted from Psalm82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. I looked up the Greek word and it is Theos..meaning diety. Possibly because we are God"™s children we may be considered gods. Surely Jesus talked about children of God and children of the devil.Please share your views on this one. This is not terminology that we use daily. In my understanding because we are born of God it would as the Psalm suggest...make us gods.
10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Jesus is saying what is the big deal here. If you knew the scripture you would see how God's word call you all gods.
10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? It seems to say similiar to what I was saying.God"™s children our gods. This is something that sounds very strange but that is what it looks like to me.

10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. The Lord is saying the proof is in the pudding.By His actions He proved He truly was the Son of God. We are also known by our fruit. I look for one thing in people who claim to be super spiritual.....love.The fruit of the Spirit is wrapped in love.All of the law is fulfilled in love.These ultra spiritual Jews were actually sons of the devil as they sought to kill the Son of God. Sure on the out side they appeared to be sheep , but in the inside, they were wolves ready to shread apart the Savior of the world.
10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Jesus is saying judge righteously. Surely no one but the Son of God could have done these things. Even His words were enough in some instances, as He saved many in Samaria.
10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, He escaped again by supernatural aid I do believe. Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
10:40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. Jesus goes to the outdoors to retreat. We all can understand that. There is no better place for me to retreat than the outdoors away from man.
10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true. However; when you are such a treasure wise men won"™t let Him get away. They followed Him. They recognized him to be the Messiah. The pearl of great price. And believers follow Him. Jesus said earlier.." "My sheep hear my voice and follow me."
10:42 And many believed on him there. And many believed. Let"™s see ,that word meant Trusting, abiding and enduring.

Nope . .I don't think I'm a god . . .do any of you? I don't see after a careful study of the scripture, or after reading several commentaries, or looking at the translations, or the Spirit witnessing to me, where we are gods.

I feel that Jesus was declaring himself God, though he knew the Jews would want to kill him for it, so he used Jewish scripture to prove that he wasn't blaspheming. Why? According to His plan, it wasn't time to die. In infinite wisdom, we are told that Jesus is God, yet he protected himself, thus following the great plan!
